I just saw the time of possession statistics for this season. North Carolina had worse time of possession than we did. The only teams that possessed the ball less than UNC were Troy and Hawaii(two terrible football teams). Should this be concerning in hiring Littrell or no? Thanks.

Basing the entire question off of a single statistic is flawed.

Lots of things factor into TOP. If the offense is up tempo, scores fast, gets plenty of turnovers from their D/ST a lower time of possession isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If you are winning and your offense is scoring then TOP is less relevant. Where it does come into play is how much you expose your defense. That is one problem with up-tempo spread teams. The offense either scores quickly or gets off the field quickly, thus exposing the defense to alot of time on the field. That was a major issue we faced under Dodge that led to our defense getting rung up.

41 points a game says NO

They only punted 36 times which is 40 times less than North Texas

2nd in points per play

1st in points per play margin

1st in yards per play

Their offense was explosive and efficient

That is exactly why our new DC is every bit as important as the new HC in terms of a turnaround. And we are going to have to develop more depth so we can rotate guys more often. Powerful up-tempo offense is a two-edged sword.

This system is volatile. If he becomes a HC, will he also call plays?  Or, would he have someone he can trust to turn over the keys to his race car so he can manage the game?

Id imagine he would call plays unless he finds a really good OC that he trusts.
