FYI Montgomery makes $800K a year.  Will be interesting to see where our new staff salary falls in line.

Cross one name off the list of candidates for the University of Tulsa football opening.

On Friday, TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham declined a request to interview for the vacancy, a source close to the situation told the Tulsa World.

Meacham, a finalist for the Broyles Award, played at Oklahoma State and was an assistant there under Mike Gundy for eight seasons before spending a year at Houston and moving to TCU this year.

Following the dismissal of four-year coach Bill Blankenship on Monday morning, TU started conducting out-of-town interviews Wednesday. Among those who have interviewed with athletic director Derrick Gragg is Texas A&M offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, a 29-year-old native of Tulsa.

So that is good to know.  I would hope that our vacancy was seen as a better opportunity than Tulsa's.

Probably seen as more convenient for his family. If he doesn't move to Denton, it's a problem.

Why would it be a problem?

He is going to have a massive undertaking. An hour commute is an hour less working. He will be getting paid a lot of money.

Not only that, but he needs to divorce himself from TCU culture and learn the dysfunctional culture of UNT and Denton.

It's important.

Just declined an interview. It's not they offered him the job & he turned them down. At least that's the way I read it.

I see it the same way

Dodge lived in Southtlake. Mac lived in Denton. Both sucked.

IF given the choice of moving to Denton or staying in Ft.Worth, we have hired the wrong man if he moves.

I'd go buy a nice place around Argyle if I were him.

Agreed.  If you want to come and change this culture and coach here, move here.

Culture will truly ever change if winning, winning consistently, and winning big time/relevant games are part of the equation.  Yes It's nice to have the coaches living in Denton but first and foremost is he able to get W's.

And that ability will be lessened living in Fort Worth.

If he truly lives in Arlington, he should move immediately, as it's a safety concern...

Keep in mind that he was never comparing between Tulsa and UNT.   That article is almost a year old.  A lot changes in a year and whatever lead him to not interview at Tulsa could be irrelevant now.

Could be that he is old mother hubbard and next year only Foster Sawyer is in the cupboard.

That's not Denton. Plenty of nice places in the city of Denton to move to.

If one of the "17" wanted, it would make sense to buy Mac's former digs and lease them to the new coach on favorable terms.

I believe that he lives west of the TCU campus.
