TCU assistant Doug Meacham will interview at North Texas for the open head coaching position as one of two finalists, according to a person familiar with the interview schedule.

North Carolina assistant Seth Littrell is the other finalist.

Meacham has been the offensive coordinator at TCU the past two seasons. He was hired from Houston, where he was offensive coordinator, to install the Air Raid offense for the Horned Frogs and brought in Sonny Cumbie from Texas Tech as co-offensive coordinator.

Under Meacham and Cumbie, the TCU offense has been one of the best in the country, and quarterback Trevone Boykin has been a Heisman Trophy candidate in 2014 and 2015 after spending the previous two seasons at running back and wide receiver. The Horned Frogs are 22-3 the past two seasons.

Meacham would be a home run hire. Between the 2 finalist I think it is a no brainer ( Assuming Meacham wants it). Meacham knows dfw. Oklahoma state  tcu and UH all obviously recruit heavly from the dfw and suurrounding areas and I believe he went to HS in Arlington. This guy has plenty of hs tie ins. Great offense, great resume, great name. What more do you want?

Enlighten me a little bit....how much discussion does a school have with a candidate before the interview.

Just strange to hear about two guys who have yet to interview being called "finalists." How do you qualify a guy as a finalist who has little understanding of the North Texas "intangibles (good and bad)?"

I like Littrell but the only thing that makes me nervous is his performance at Arizona that was a part of Mike Stoops getting the axe. He has done much better at IU and UNC but the Arizona thing gives me pause.
