I think long gone are the days of the long-time one destination coach, minus a Kliff situation.  I think it would be hard to pry Kingsbury out of Lubbock even for a USC/LSU/Oregon kind of gig.

Break the pick.

If we could land Meacham as our head coach and he lured Applewhite over to be the OC/QB coach, that would be big.

Why would Applewhite leave a job as OC at Houston where he's making $300K for the same job at UNT.

Another senario could be Meacham adding tony levine to the staff.  Meacham worked under levine at houston a few years ago, so that may be a little weird for levine, but I don't think he gets back into coaching as a HC. I think he has to work his way back up.

A meachum/levine combo would be great for recruiting.

what if rv really really hates the guy we hire but smatty hires him anyway, it wouldn't really be a rv hire then would it?

Number one, this won't happen. RV ALWAYS goes along to get along in order to keep collecting a check.

Number two, and most importantly, this won't change the culture inside the AD. And we will never be consistently successful with the current blase attitude rife within this AD.

Just an idea. I didn't say it was likely to happen.

It could only happen if we were willing to pay quite a bit more then the $300 K Houston is paying him.

I like that too.

Hey they beat Texas last night so....oh, yeah I see your point

And UT is of little consequence this year, so I can see how you caught the obvious.

Meachum is probably the more complete coach.  Meacham has the "leadership" aurora.  He commands respect.  I recall his arguing hash mark ball placement with a ref earlier this year....he 'owned' that situation...he looked like a head coach. In fact he reminded me of Art Briles with his intensity.
