I heard on the radio this morning that the college bowl committee is trying to figure out what to do if there aren't enough teams to fill the 80 slots available.  Here's a related article:  http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-college-football-bowl-games-20151123-story.html

I've noticed people complaining in the past about the number of bowl games, but I never really considered how silly it is.  With 40 bowls, that means 80 teams go to the post season.  We have, what, 128 FBS teams right now?  So that means that teams in the bottom half of college football go to bowl games.  Literally below average.  Shoot, I wish the workplace was like that.  "Hey, I know you're performing just below expectations, but here's a little bonus anyway because the CEO feels compelled to get as many people a bonus as possible."

Anyway, just a thought to change up the topic a little bit.

I like the idea of 100 bowl games. Gives fans like myself a bit longer to watch college football. I do think bowl eligible teams should be 500 or better, but that would have kept North Texas from our bowl in 2001. Those were great trips to New Orleans! Last year I remember watching Ark State play Toledo in some small bowl somewhere. I watched because Ark State used to be among us but appeared to have passed us by? Let all of the bowls stay where they are for now, or at least until we get our act together.

The bowls are just a matter of supply and demand. I think that as long as they can be run at a profit for networks and the bowls themselves, as well as being viewed favorably by the city that hosts them, it won't be going away.
