He just sent in his resume. His dad is his boss. He doesn't have to worry about facing repercussions for looking around. It's not like he sent in the application this past week, either.

People are reading way too much into the resume submittal.

Bc he applied way back at the beginning before bigger schools came sniffing around. He hasn't been interested for a long time. Certainly not interested in working for RV.

P5s aren't interested in a 33 year old with 9 games experience as an OC.

He is just saying what he has to say. This may be his attempt to get a raise at Baylor or practice going through the interview process, but to say bigger schools want him is a bit ridiculous. Maybe in a year or two.

Agreed. Hell, we'd be taking a significant risk with a hire like this. He may turn out to be a great head coach, but I can't see a major conference team giving him a shot without a more significant body of work as an OC.

I think that is a good example of the risks of youth. Most of the other coaches on Vitos list probably saw sending in their resumes as the best way to bring their name into the conversation since that was not particularly likely to happen by itself. Briles doing it might have had to do with him not expecting for that to get FOIA'd (and I doubt he got good advice on that one). It is an experience I am sure he'll learn from....but I think it is better if he does it on Baylors dime than UNTs.

Baylor offensive coordinator Kendal Briles has told John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald that "publicly", he is not interested in UNT job.

Fixed!

...Because a 33 year old with 20 games of experience as an OC is mich different.

Well, it's a full season different. And I believe I said P5s won't be interested for a year or 2.

And to whom exactly are you referring?

is this supposed to be about Lincoln Riley??? cause he has been an oc for like 5 years.

Baylor just beat previously unbeaten OkSt using a second and then third string QB. Who do you think will get most of the credit for that? I believe that would be the OC. Which raises young Coach Briles' stock considerably with the big schools. Looks like he just moved way out of our price range.

I think we still have a shot at Lincoln Riley but definitely not Briles. His dad is going to make his path for him starting with at least 2 more years basking in that glorious offensive system.

And still isn't a head coach. He's most likely referring to Kingsbury, who was an extremely special circumstance hire

Either way, UNT gets screwed by quarterback play!

And none would... but we should.  UNT needs to become a springboard job for the top coaches of the future.

Other than his last name, why is everyone up in arms for this guy to come here? He's proven nothing. He has very little experience as the head of anything. Call me crazy, but if we're going to go the young OC route, I'd rather have someone who didn't piggy back off their father's success.
