Posting this since I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on this forum. A fellow college basketball fan I know told me he heard a story on KERA 90.1 on Friday about UNT men's and women's basketball. I looked it up, and it was a short interview with Brett Vito. Not often that you hear about our basketball teams on KERA radio. Nice publicity!

Is winning the NIT better than going to the NCAA tournament?
IMO, it is a moot point, you play to win every game and that is all a team can do. I think it is foolish to suggest that going to the NCAA's is better than winning the NIT. Getting clobbered in the first round of the NCAA's is not going to help the program anymore than winning games in the NIT.
Recruiting advances in either scenario pale in importance against how much you can pay players.
I sometimes think NT would be better off never signing Savage. She is so erratic, I can't believe Delong keeps depending on her in pressure situations.
She should be a starter only, and should be replaced as soon as she starts walking batters. She has immense physical talent, but she has seldom been a reliable reliever.
It stills remains to be seen if Delong can make NT successful at this level. I hate to think it, but softball also may have NIL issues were NT can't get the level of players it has in the past.
