Sometimes I think this fan base gets the program they deserve when they call a 24 point loss with zero points scored a "respectable showing."

I would just call it a respectable showing by the defense. It didn't appear the offense showed up at all, especially our receivers!

I say give Canales a 2 year deal and see what he can do. The team has a different personality with Canales as the HC.

And I'm ready to take whatever you've got-I don't think Smith is the QB of our future and I'm glad the top rated receiver in the conference is graduating. All passes need to be caught. Not just the softballs.

You could tell they are friends by their post game handshake. Jones still went for it on 2-3 Fourth Down and short plays with a 17 and a 24 point lead. Against an offense who had not posted a point.

Again, DaMarcus had a McNulty-like stat line and it is the receiver's faults, even though they had the same receivers. Give props to the defense, but NO ONE on offense deserves kudos for this one. 0 points is inexcusable no matter the opponent.

there were several key drops. Carlos Harris dropped one that was for a key first down. Thompson dropped a long pass that was right in his hands.

Add Marcus Smith in there early on.

Give the team some credit. Yes, Tennessee didn't play this one like it was a SEC game, but the NT defense played their best game of the year.

I thought the offense wouldn't have looked as bad, if NT receivers could make easy plays.

I listened to part of the game on the UT radio network. They didn't seem to think the Vols were dogging it. They were complimenting the defensive line play.

You guys who don't think it was a respectable effort do realize we were a 41 point underdog???
We played one of our closest games of the year on the road against an SEC team. Considering what a bad team we are this year, I have to think this outcome exceeded everyone's expectations. I don't think anyone is happy about losing 24-0, we are just happy not to lose 66-7. It's not what we want, but it's the reality of this season.

Chico is not the answer. There is no one attached to the program at this time that is the answer. Canales- gone. Cosh-gone. Villareal-gone. I don't give a damn if Villareal has cultivated 17 big money donors. He is the athletic director. He is responsible for everything that happens or fails to happen on the field. The fact that people are content with a 24 point loss is absolute proof that he has failed as an athletic director. This is a reasonable expectation for him. If this is his definition of success, he should have been fired 5 years ago. He is the sole representation necessary of the failure that is North Texas revenue athletics.

This is why the banner needed to be flown. This is why billboards need to be procured. This is why full page advertisements in every media outlet in the DFW area need to be taken out publicly airing our recent lack of productivity in every revenue sport. Our attendance. Our Scheduling. Most every reasonable approach to voicing our concerns have been made. Now, it's time to escalate and get nasty, if necessary.

When Chico's team gets points and looks productive, someone has to spit on him for bad calls and sloppy play. Here we are with a goose egg and now some people want to praise him for having the team look good.

I'm a relatively vocal Chico supporter, but I'm not going to heap praise here. As OC, we need to be scoring points and - as HC - we need to be competitive in all facets.

This was an SEC team. I'm going to forget this one and hope for the best the rest of the way.

Some of the posts in her are exactly what RV wants. Zero fan expectation so there will be zero pressure on RV to do his job.

You bring up an interesting point about this having to get nasty. You are exactly right. RV is hanging on to this job with everything he has, because he knows he will never hold another position like this or be given as big a paycheck . This is his last ride. And he knows it.

He has already indicated he won't go out without a fight, and fight he will. He will use donors he has manipulated through personal relationships to fight the battle for him.

Its clear Pres. Smatresk isn't happy with RV. It's also clear that he doesn't have the power to remove him right now. I hope Pres. Smatresk is a strong leader, because he is going to have to sway donors and several BOR members who have been manipulated for years by RV.

No one wants a friend to be fired. That's what RV is counting on and what Pres. Smatresk has to overcome.
