The player rating match up that you list has been wr vs corners.  This is not the key matchups like it should be.  It's our LBs against their slot wrs and RBs.  Even with true freshmen at corner, teams have rarely picked on them like they could because it's so much easier picking on our LBs in coverage.

Davis may get 1 or 2 balls thrown his way a game and it's usually something 10 yards or less.  I hope they throw it his way more so I can see if he can really play, but why should they when they can run the ball and find LBs in coverage to pick on.

I know it's a result of rounding, but I'm amused that North Texas Runs or Passes on 101% of first down plays.

In the Dickey days we actually RAN on 101% of first downs.

I appreciate the feedback and you are right. I shouldve highlighted more useful matchups. I will make adjustments in the future. Maybe not an overall rating, but rather a receiving rating of a RB/WR vs the coverage rating of a LB matchup. For OL vs DL Pass block vs the rush abilities. Would that be more useful or insightful?

The only match ups I care about now are these:

Sonny Cumbie vs Kendall Briles (Round 1) / Major Applewhite vs Meachum (Round 2) / Mario Crystobal vs Jeff Traylor (round 3)

There are my picks. Winner gets a Green Polo, a nice salary, and an all-expense paid trip to beautiful Denton Texas!

I'm still pulling for Briles, although I hear that is a real long-shot now.

GMG!!!

I've seen Traylor's name pop up a few times.

Traylor has almost the EXACT SAME resume as Todd Dodge did 9 years ago.    VERY successful high school team.  1 or 2 years of college position coaching experience... that's it.   We don't need to be paying him to learn on the job a-la Dodge.  Let UT do that for now.   He may be a great coach down the line, but he's not for North Texas right now.

I dont want to turn this into a coach search thread #150, but Traylor is a little different personality wise then Dodge. He is way more organzied. Also Traylor doesnt fit the salary range we are looking to hire in. Not sure you could pay him 900K.

Could we give Applewhite 900K to be the HC and then pay Traylor 500K to be the OC? That would be a dynamic recruiting/coach duo.

I dont think there's anything wrong with your format.  You are doing a good job.  Our team is so bad, the key matchups just never become a factor in the outcome.

We just can't stop the run.  The key matchups are every member of that front 7 vs the run and the pass.

I'm not saying the secondary is good, but we will never know until we can stop the run.

It's really not fair to the Lbs either.  Its bad enough they can't stop the run, but then we put them in coverage.  May as well make the secondary play man and let them concentrate on stopping the run and rushing the passer.

We slowed we slowed the game down enough to stay in it (nominally) for a while.

Funny that gay we went to Mac's strategy of previous years. Also, Canales has to work really hard to get the sideline interested in the game. Constantly yelling at guys to "support" the team and out their fists up on third down.
