For the sake of full disclosure, MeanGreenTexan accurately characterized the context of my awareness of your loss to Portland State. Because you are on our current schedule, I have paid more attention to the course of North Texas' season this year than I ordinarily would. I was not aware that the Portland State game was your homecoming; that must have made it particularly difficult to stomach. In this era of what I call "slide-rule" football, where the pigskin moves up and down the field with hardly a semblance of defense, pinball-like scores have become fairly commonplace; the average fan may well have looked at that score and thought, "good day offensively for Portland State," and then dismissed it without further consideration.

Incidentally, I would strongly advise Mean Green fans not to attend the Florida game at the "Swamp." As nonconference opponents, you probably would not be subjected to the full arsenal of their venom, but Tennessee fans who attended games there have reported a very warm reception, as in being splashed with cups of urine. I do not believe that Florida fans share our sense of hospitality toward visitors. They have enjoyed a lot of success over the last twenty-five years but have a "Johnny-come-lately" attitude when it comes to their place in the history of college football. By comparison, the Tennessee-Alabama rivalry is fiercely contested but predicated on decades of respect, due to the fact that General Neyland, Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Bear Bryant, Johnny Majors, and Phil Fulmer all viewed this clash of orange vs. crimson as the annual measuring stick of their respective programs.  Florida is the program that we truly despise and, more than anything else, it stems from the fact that they have never learned to win with grace and lose with dignity.

Incidentally, for what it is worth, my brother encountered Syracuse fans at Neyland during our 2001 game with the Orangemen. They commented on how graciously they had been greeted in Knoxville and contrasted it sharply to the rude reception they received at the 1999 Orange Bowl, when they played the Reptilian Horde.  So, Mean Green fans, be forewarned about visiting the Swamp.

Being splashed with urine and treated poorly would actually be an upgrade for us from how our administration and AD treat us..

This Vol guy. He acts like going to Neyland in Orange n' Blue is rainbows and butterflies. It's not. In 2012 in Knoxville we helped an absolutely hammered drunk Vol fan that was by himself and hardly able to walk back to his tailgating area. He had no idea we were Gator fans until we were getting ready to leave aftee dropping him off. He kind of "came to" and said, and I'll never forget..."What the ****, Gator fans! Get your nasty pieces of **** selves the **** away from me!!! <threw empty cup at us while flopping down onto a cooler>" Literally 10 minutes later we were bombarded by drunk girls screaming obscenities at the top of their lungs at us. Then, of course, the 100 passing "**** you's." I was with my wife through all of that and before we even got to our seats she told me she's never coming here again. None of that bothered me. What the absolute worse part of a Knoxville game day trip is hearing Rocky Top blare over every radio in every tailgating area, housing development and restaurant for 48 straight hours.

But stuff like that is what makes the SEC the SEC. The fans are ruthless. Meanwhile, our fans get upset about our student section yelling BS in sync.

Why does the younger generation get so butt hurt when someone challenges what they say?

Its not "insulting" because I disagree with you.

You seriously did not just post this?   This is too rich.  While it has been a bit of time since you were part of the "younger generation" (while still much younger than yours truly here), you could quite easily have pointed this post right to yourself as evidenced by several of your posts directed my way recently.  I am sending you several tubes of Preperation H for that butt hurt of yours over a bit of "disagreement".  Remember, "it's not insulting if I disagree with you".

KRAM, your posts are click bait to me. They are so over-the-top in BS I just can't help but read them and reply to them. You need to get a gig at ESPN. They would love you.

But, you never answered my question...Give me hope in this administration. Tell me why I should back what is going on here. I (and probably many others) need to see the good and be explained to how it outweighs the bad. I am dying to hear your response...so...please....enlighten us...

Glad I could inspire you.  When you grow up maybe you too can reach such heights.  As to the question...I have already told you why and in person. About that ESPN gig... I know...I was asked once by a local radio guy...when we had a local radio gig...if I would have any interest in doing a call-in talk show.  I think the guy was drunk at the time, but, hey, he mentioned it.  I would have even used my own name.  How about that?  Unlike ..... Oh, never mind.

We have spoke about this in person, but it was in political rhetoric. Fans need guidelines, goals, expectations, etc. laid out in front of them. What does Smasktrek expect, BOR expect, RV expect, etc. This administration, now as a university, is sitting back and no one is stepping forward with real commentary on our dire situation. Smastrek is hesitant in everything he says and RV speaks in damage control. The BOR never addresses anything or releases any kind of informative material. We are having circles ran around us on the subject matter and no one is stepping up to the plate and taking ownership of any one thing. It is the worst ran ANYTHING that I have ever witnessed.
