I know this is not football and the wrong forum, but this deserves the attention of everyone who is tired of the sadness of the UNT football team:

UNTs soccer women are favored to win the championship as they go into the conference final vs Marshall in about 5 minutes. They have also won the regular season championship.

I enjoyed watching that! Congratulations to all the ladies and to Coach Hedlund. Uh, Coach, can you coach defensive football too?

DENTON – The North Texas athletics department is hosting an NCAA selection show watch party for the Conference USA tournament champion Mean Green soccer team on Monday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. in the HUB Club at Apogee Stadium

. 

The Mean Green (19-3-1) won the C-USA regular season title and captured the conference tournament championship with a 1-0 victory against Marshall on Sunday in Miami, Fla. The team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the tournament championship. 

 

North Texas will find out its first opponent when the 64-team field is announced on Monday. The selection show will be broadcast on NCAA.com starting at 3:30 p.m., central time. 

 

This is the Mean Green soccer program’s fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament. North Texas has won four conference tournament titles and received four automatic bids in program history. The Mean Green’s last appearance in the NCAA Tournament was in 2012. North Texas won both the Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament titles in 2012.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament will take place on November 13, 14 or 15th at 16 regional sites. 

 

Mean Green fans and members of the media are invited to join North Texas on the third floor of Apogee Stadium for the selection show.

Congrats ladies!   Fantastic season.

Now, no mercy in the Tournament.  Should get a decent draw.  Finished the season ranked 48, then shutout the C-USA tourney... should hopefully get up around a 9/10/11 seed.   Don't they like to seed in the regions?  If so, possibly another showdown with A&M?  Maybe Big12-Champ Tech, LSU, or Oklahoma?

with all due respect, UNT got totally f'd on this selection. They completely would have deserved a home game instead of an away game against a top 20 ranked big 12 champ who has the number 17 RPI and should be playing somebody way worse.
