If we can't win more than 2-3 games in 2016 with what we will be paying a new coach, then it's time to dome Apogee and make it into the concert hall that Denton desires to perserve its artsy fartsy public image as the place that no business wants to locate.

Matt Rhule, the Temple coach whose team is now 8-1, with the only loss by 4 points to Notre Dame, went 2-10 and 6-6 his first 2 years.

Justin Fuente, the Memphis coach, whose team is now 8-1 after not handling Navy's triple option, went 4-8 and 3-9 his first 2 years there.

I know there are immediate success stories, but they're the exception, and seem like places where the recruiting hadn't fallen off before a new coach came in.

Just a few weeks ago, you guys were saying that Smith was the savior and just wasn't getting a fair shake under McCarney, yet now you guys are saying he sucks and the team will win no more than 2-3 next year with him under center. Make up your minds, sheesh lol

No.  Not everyone was saying that.  A select few were saying that.

Most of us recognize that there are no FBS-level quarterbacks on this roster.  We knew it before Smith hit the field because he couldn't make his grades in time to get here in spring, then couldn't beat out McNulty.

Not beating out McNulty was a big enough sign that he wasn't cut out for this level of play.  The McNulty Bar is set reaaaaaaaally low, and he couldn't get over it.

Greer could easily be punished-start at qb this week and let the Vols teach him a lesson.  He always looked like a deer in the headlights when he played. I was always hoping he would be a good quarterback for us.

There are many who thought that he didn't get a fair shake under McCarney.  But, we weren't annointing him the savior of the program.  We just think that out of our crappy stable of QB's, he has just enough to be a little less crappy than the others in that he at least offers a running threat.  No one offers a real, consistent vertical threat on this team. I think you might be confusing our feelings of him being the less stinky of stink than our feelings of him being a Heisman front runner.

I almost agree with you Queen, in that we were (and are) desperately grasping at straws in regard to the QB position, but the fact is that he is still the best we have to offer. Btw, your 1-11 days are far from behind you at Crime U., so go ahead and gloat while you can.

Exactly,  And, I mean, word for word what most of us believe.

Listen, Houston fan...just...be happy that although you went to a crappy, utterly ugly college, that at least the athletic department there figured something out after Phi Slamma Jamma was not able to sustain it.

We were hoodwinked - and, still are to some degree - by the last head coach and his assistants.  Okay, so let us suffer amongst ourselves, please.
