Has there been an injury update for him? Serious concern for Marcus.

Heard the play on the radio so I can't describe it from MY eyes. He went after a pass in the corner of the end zone and slid hard head first into a brick wall. It was all-hands-on-deck from trainers from both sides. Took him off on a gurney strapped down securely and braced. Could be head, neck, or back per radio crew.

He went for a catch in the end zone. Missed the catch but momentum sent into that wall at an angle. Looked bad. He did not give thumbs up when put on the flat board. Wheeled out on stretcher. All the players both sides were praying. Prayers need to go up for him.

from the Monroe NewStar:

After the game, North Texas interim head coach Mike Canalas said Smith was moving his hands and feet before he left on the stretcher.

"He was able to bend his knees and I think he was just a little sore in his lower back and it was just precautionary to take him to the hospital," Canalas said.

Don't the players know that you cannot pray anymore...how religious of them.  So glad to hear/see that he maybe wasn't hurt as feared initially.

Yeah, thank God that it sounds like he'll be ok.  Don't they usually drape some kind of padding for locations in a stadium like that?

Looking at the replay, it looks like yes he slid head-first into the wall, but didn't hit the wall head-first. Looks like his shoulders took a lot of the impact and then his helmet hit too.

I found an overhead photo that shows how that wall is at Joe Aillet Stadium.

There ought to be padding there. It appears that it's just concrete wall with plastic sign on it.

The wall did not appear to have any padding.  I thought the wall was a bit close not to be padded and did you notice the sign on the wall in question ?  It advertised "....Medical Center."   I wondered if that was where Smith was taken.

I'm glad he appears to be OK.
