They may actually beat the Irish tonight. I'm always happy to see a G5 beat up on a P5. Props to UH too for whoopin an SEC school today.

Just a few years ago Temple was so bad they got kicked out of their conference. I wonder what spearheaded the turn around?

I know that was a leading question but I truly don't know the answer. I'm assuming you'll say AD so please just confirm what your were alluding to. Thanks.

LOL. I know most topics end up with RV's ass in a guillotine, but I'm honestly curious as to what Temple did to turn around their football program. I know they landed in a conference quite easily due to their solid basketball history.

From what I read, Temple tried a power play in the old Big East by refusing to make basic upgrades to their football program thinking the Big East won't actually throw them out because their basketball was so great. They were wrong. I'm not sure how they rebuilt their program besides the obvious of getting a coach who was successful at their school. Al Golden is an example of a coach who is very successful at one school only to do very, very poorly at his next.

Al Golden had to bring Miami back from sanctions, and did a decent job of it.  But he lost favor with the fans, and, I think ultimately with his players, when he tried to get the Penn State gig.

I think he lost more favor following a 9 win season with a 6-7 season. This year is ok but certainly not good.

I think it was more or less a snowball thing that began with a little grumbling among fans, later very public calls by fans for his firing, eventual abandonment by his team, which culminated in the Clemson demolition and his firing.

But you're obviously correct that if he were on pace for 10 wins this season, he'd still have a job.

Sounds eerily similar to someone I know from Iowa. Did you know they have 2 P5 schools in Iowa?
