I transferred from ACU (where i played football) to THE University of North Texas in 07'. i have great pride from graduating from UNT. It is hard to become a great university that is know for football in the state of Texas. We have came from the depths, to arrive at C-USA. I support the fire Rv movement. RV is part of the old faction of which i call the depths. we do have a problem, but it is not the University, its the people behind the university. we need to step up and bring the cash, look at tcu and baylor they where just waiting form something good to happen and they jumped on it. we have to have many winning seasons before the coach we are taking about will come here. maybe its just luck getting the right leader. The bottom line is that we can raise money for a banner, but can we have the pride and raise money for a new AD and head Coach.

I will say this again: with the right man in the AD spot, there are millions of donated dollars that we don't even know is out there from alums willing to donate to Athletics with as many alumni as we have.

So, you played for Chris Thomsen. What is your read on him? Would he be ready/able to take on a program like North Texas?

i will be more specific. i got hurt and they puled my scholarship. my coach was coach Gary Gaines. my point is if we want to play with the big boys we have to act like a big boy.

I agree. A big boy program wouldn't tolerate all three major programs losing like ours do. Lets clean house.

It is not so easy as 'we all just need to step up'. You are talking about a small group on this board. Many of us have stepped up. The school must have staff who go get MANY people to step up. They have not done that and apparently don't think they need to or that it's not their responsibility. The program needs THOUSANDS of people writing $1,000 checks every year, not just a few writing $1,000,000 checks occasionally. But that would be a lot more work and they'd have to be creative and desperate about it. Instead they just like to hope all those people will magically step up on their own. It is either the most careless or most ignorant management possible. I have said it before. All those citizens in your area deserve a far, far better local public university that is not managed that way.

Sadly, off the field, the low point hasn't been reached yet. Another RV hire will most likely get us to that point. I'd venture a guess that at Apogee, in CUSA, a season like we are having again, but with a coach who has multiple years left on his contract, we will reach a point where we lose in front of crowds in the 3k or lower range.

And there's apparently nothing we can do about it.

Such a waste...
