Guys, with all due respect, I can't think of but a very few players on our roster that play anywhere in CUSA except UTSA. We are the worst of the worst in D1 football.

Disagree

there's a decent amount of players that are Definetly D1 material from an athletic standpoint.  In fact, a lot of these guys probably would have played earlier if they were on different teams or in different systems.

Not too many programs would roll mcnulty out there over DSmith.  Smith would have been the starter day 1 even though he missed Spring.  There's some programs that start true freshmen that were in high school in the spring.

let face you could make a pretty good living and live in Denton.   You win 9 games a season her you are a football good, at the big schools you get fired.  No pressure here.

Agreed, but I don't think we need a guy here now who likes the job just because of a million bucks and low pressure. I think we just had someone along those lines, and we now need someone who is aggressively brave and hungry to win. The reason we are flying a banner tomorrow, is probably because that most of us have zero confidence in the guy who will be doing the vetting for the position. We shall see.

One more reason that the UNT job is so attractive, is it is in Texas. All the state rah-rah bravado aside, Texas is one of the few states in the country that does not have a state income tax. The rates vary by state with up to 13.3% taken.

There could be a million or more good reasons per year to coach at North Texas and you don't have to waste a single one of them on state income tax.

And add in Denton County, it has relatively low cost of living in one of the highest standard of living counties in the country.

Good post Harry.

The concern I have though is our AD.

If I'm a hot stuff up and coming coach.....everything you listed looks great.

But how interested am I in a job where the AD could be gone in at most 18 months and the fan base is really unhappy with him anyway.

I'm gonna think twice before I take a job that could be gone in less than 2 years when the potential new AD comes in and brings his own coach.

On the flip side, how great would it be to come in with a new AD + all the things you listed...

This. And people need to understand that coaches know the skinny on RV.

He is a detriment to landing the candidate we want, not only because he is basically dead in the water, but because his lack of marketing UNT to the point of drawing large crowds even when we are winning is WELL known in the coaching community. I promise you.

Also the way Dickey and Mac were let go won't help the situation.

We need a professional, hard working AD. We haven't had one in quite some time.

How can anyone say we have some good players on our team when we have not won a game Anyone see any good players on our side of the field against Portland State?

What's Portland State?  Portland is a city; Oregon is a State.
