One of the few bright spots in Men's athletic programs at UNT continues to shine.

VERO BEACH, Fla. – North Texas true freshman Thomas Rosenmueller had a round for the ages as he fired a 9-under par 63 to take the lead at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invite. Resenmueller’s round is tied for the lowest round in the nation this season and it is the lowest recorded round by a freshman in school history.

He began his record breaking day on the 11th hole after an opening round of 2-under par 70. The scorecard was flawless as he posted nine birdies and nine pars as he surged past the field to take a four-shot lead heading into the final round.

Rosenmueller fueled the Mean Green on the day and in the second round. NT is alone in second place after two-rounds of play as the Mean Green is 10-under for the tournament and only one shot behind Michigan State for the lead. The top-five teams are bunched very tightly, as the Spartans hold a tenuous lead over five teams within five shots of the lead.

Rosenmueller’s 63 is the second lowest recorded round in school history behind only Michael Lee’s 62, which was in 2008. He is the eighth player in the nation to shoot a 63 this season. He begins the final round leading by four strokes at 11-under par through two-rounds.

Great news!  Stracke continues to deliver outstanding recruits from unexpected places.

Stracke and Sujay Lama(women's tennis) have both done great jobs of finding international recruits who have turned out to be outstanding assets for their respective programs.
