I say UCF -- ie their fans are considering but an interesting list nonetheless.  Let's hear your thoughts.

1. Matt Campbell-Toledo HC
2.. Mike Sanford-OC Notre dame
3. Jeremy Pruitt-DC Georgia
4. Jeff Brohm-HC Western Kentucky
5. Jake Spavital-OC TAMU
6. Brent Key - UCF
7.  Mario Cristobal - Alabama
8.  Mark Whipple - UMass
9.  Ed Orgeron - LSU
10.  Doc Holliday - Marshall
11.  Willie Fritz - Ga. Southern
12.  Geoff Coolins- UF DC
13.  Tyson Summers- CSU DC
14.  Darin Hinshaw
15.  Brian Vangorver- ND DC
16.  Charlie Strong- UT HC

I thought this was a very telling comment:

All these young coordinators are a bad choice. Sure they're the hot name in coaching and would bring in some exciting recruits for a year but as soon as a P5 job opens up they're gone. It's not worth it for a short term injection, the thing with GOL is he was in it here for the long haul. We need someone else who's been around awhile, is a bit older and looking for his last coaching job not a stepping stone.

Cristobal to Miami.  I could see Orgeron to UCF as well as Fritz.  UCF is just two seasons removed from handing Baylor their butts in a bowl game.  Orgeron has experience recruiting the Southeast as well.

To lend some perspective, UCF assistant Brent Key is being paid $700K for NOT getting  the UCF head job... you think there is not some funding going into successful football?

And UCF is not that much different than we are dammit.  They had the advantage of not having SMU in their backyard which got them in C-USA over us as well as being in Florida which was a hot conference market.

I just hope the powers that be at UNT realize this is not an endeavor where you can stay in the same range or get by on the cheap.  And it gets more expensive every year.  Of course the payoff of success is 20 times what you pay in terms of exposure, enrollment, alumni giving etc...

Someone gave UCF good money.  They have a new stadium, less 10 years old, that seats in the neighborhood 45-50,000.  They hired an old war horse in O'Leary, and it worked out for a long time.

I said Orgeron or Fritz.  But, I'll bet that's the kind of job - and, in the right state - for Tommy Bowden to jump back in the game.  The Bowden name is gold throughout the South, particularly in Florida.  That'd probably be their best bet...although, I'd like to see him here.

And they opened their stadium with UT.

We opened ours with Houston...
