Trouble in Aggieland.

"Spavital should not be let off the hook by any stretch. In fact, his ridiculous insistence calling plays that suit him, rather than those that best-fit his quarterbacks’ skills, has crippled the offense. The next time Spavital calls for Kyle Allen to sprint left and throw across his body to the flat, he should be fired, too. Allen truly is an extremely talented NFL-type quarterback, no matter recent evidence to the contrary. But there are certain throws he simply cannot make. Meanwhile, why Spavital seems to believe Kyler Murray is nothing more than a Wildcat quarterback is baffling. Murray has every throw in the bag, but every time he’s been on the field his skill set has been handcuffed."

Kyler Murray sounds like a basket case. I would be recommending a transfer in the offseason if I'm Sumlin.

you're ridiculous, the kids a competitor and knows he's better than what they put out there.  You seen his Twitter? Nothing but positive stuff when he does tweet. He's anything but a "basket case"

Maybe so, but whoever wrote this article has created the narrative.

there was none... Why would Murray go to ATM with another 5 star QB one year in front of him unless they told him that he'd be their guy?

Wasn't his Dad an Aggie? Wasn't he some type of Aggie legacy? Our next HC could hire that Allen coach and convince him to transfer to NT. Just saying lol one can dream.

yes Kevin was a stud at ATM. And I've been saying that since day 1. We're a public school, and I'm almost certain HS coaches can still use Public schools in their TRS (retirement account) they pay on your highest paid 5 years.  Why not use it to our advantage. He doesn't have to coach some crazy position, make him TE/recruiting guru... Not hard.

I agree on this point -- we shouldn't let the bad experience with Dodge cloud us towards involving coaches with heavy high school experience on this staff.  Dodge brought his entire high school staff pretty much and did not bring college assistants with experience until it was way too late.  A lot of the successful programs are bringing in high school coaches to perform in recruiting roles now, transitioning them to position coaches and doing it quite successfully.

You'll have to pay him $150 an hour to do so cause that's what he charges.....he's considered one of the top private QB trainers in the region.  Chad Morris uses him for his QB's including for his own son.

They gave him a shot VS AZSt when Allen started poorly, and he only ran around.  He couldn't make throws like Allen could... so they put him back on the bench.  Murray is a true freshman.  He'll be fine, but he needs more seasoning.

Spavital would be a killer hire.  He ain't coming here.

I wouldn't mind hiring the Martin coach, he only wins and his kids play hard as they can!

I am talking about Tom Westerberg, not Murray although hiring Kevin could ensure we get a good QB who would be developed.

I played for Coach Wager at Martin and I would love to see him coach in college one day. I have no doubt he would be an amazing recruiter. Dude is relentless. Works out as hard as any player and spends countless hours at the field house. He wouldn't take no for an answer and if he coached here he'd get two or three kids a class who he should have no business getting. Problem is, he never got his Master's degree so he wouldn't be considered.

I think Westerburg will be a good coach in college if he chooses to make that transition. He looks like he's running a college team and coaching staff.

I don't think he'd take a look at college until he wins a state championship. He's completely fixated on that.

This is his year, with Allen being "semi down" lol is that even possible? They played them so close last year.  They have a STUD sophomore RB I forget his name...He will be way to big time for UNT but I'd love to see him running for the Mean Green!

I hope so. This is their worst senior class in terms of FBS offers in a long time. Somehow they're still annihilating everyone like they have 10 FBS commits.

Yeah I noticed the same thing, that running game is NO  joke, watched them play a few times this year and those two RB's do just about whatever they want.

As I recall, his daddy brought some negative attention to A&M's recruiting methods back in the day.  As I recall, A&M sort of outbid the rest of the SWC buyers for his services.

Who coaches the WR down there? That cat needs to go.  They can't run any route without looking completely lost.
