There will be more.  And you will see guys like Hermann get better jobs and guys like Applewhite possibly replacing him.

It is SO imperative that we are taking FULL advantage of these remaining weeks to finalize our hiring.  However, the best candidates will have agents who advise them to hold out to see what opportunities arise.

This will be a long 4-5 weeks.

By the way, I noticed this paragraph in the writeup. Off topic for this thread but I want to point out that the president at UCF obviously knows how to deal with replacing an AD and a football coach.

"UCF President John Hitt and spokesman Grant Heston confirmed the news and told the Sentinel the school will complete its athletics director search by early December and the new A.D. will help select the next head football coach from outside the program."

I guess you could say the UCF president is a "hitt man".

Very interesting and thanks for posting.  This is a very unique situation whereby you have the head coach and ad as one in the same.  In that it is not comparable to ours.

I agree with you. The more subtle message in that UCF quote was that they seem to understand the sequence of events as it should be IMO.

Wait......doesn't UCF understand you must have an AD in October in order to hire a coach in December?  They're not doin it right.

Rick

Exactly. I disagree with Harry's initial point, but he caught himself at the end. There is no point hurrying this process along. We aren't going to hire someone away in late November who we wouldn't be able to a few weeks later. If there's a chance they could sign somewhere else during that gap, they won't be so hasty to sign right when the season ends.

RV said on the podcast his strategy is to announce the new coach right after the season ends. Unless that's a guy like Brad Smiley coming from a juco, that's not happening.
