Does Rick Villarreal understand that every hire is a good hire on the day you make it?

When he implies that UNT presidents are to blame after his coaching hires do a total faceplant, I wonder if Smatresk recognizes that he will be RV's scapegoat if the next one does too.

Many of us liked Carthel and Tomsen because they were successfull and hungry, but per the M&G..here 's some of the candidates Vitto had mentioned as being considered before Dodge was hired.

Jay Norvel..Was the OC at Nebraska at the time, seems I remember him giving us the runaround about something during his interview?

Tyrone Nix..Was DC at South Carolina at the time.

Curtis Modkins...was RB coach at Ga Tech at the time.

Randy Butler...D line coach at Southern Miss.

There may have been others, but none of these guys had been a head coach before or since.  If they were so great you would have thought someone would have hired them as a head coach by now.  They haven't.  Not an impressive group,... leaving the feeling that the search to turn over every rock to find the right guy  for head coach was not thouroughly done, eventually settling on Dodge.
