I think the 40 threshold is fairly important... If you look at the SMU, Houston and Tulsa hires they were all 40+.  You are talking about the highest paid person in the entire UNT system... probably in history.  But I agree with you that both of these are close and have a ton of upside.  Wilson is a stud recruiter but hails from New Orleans.  I would give the edge to Applewhite in terms of being known in Texas, his knowledge of offense and he has folk hero status in the state.

I dont think being from New Orleans is a bad thing, we've done really well there.  You wont be getting the recruits that he would be getting at LSU but we would be fighting against teams like ULL and ULM. 

Either way, I dont think you can go with Briles, 2 TCU co- coord, Applewhite or Wilson.  If you can get one of those coaches, we'll be in good hands.

I heard some people thought that Meacham wouldnt come here, but I look at Meachaqm like Monken, they both coached at OSU together too and they kinda look alike.  Monken was the OC at OSU before he left to USM, I can see the same here.
