– A UNT official confirmed that UNT will owe Dan McCarney $2.1 million in terms of his buyout. There was some speculation that McCarney could stay on at UNT in some capacity. That does not look like it will happen.

Bummer. I was a little leary of the source of this info. He tends to be hit or miss with his info which is why I was looking for someone else to chime in.

Too bad  sounds like we are on the hook for the full amount.

"Canales and Smith both credited backup quarterbacks Andrew McNulty and Josh Greer for helping get Smith ready to play last week."

Well...that explains the turnovers and low completion percentage.

I actually laughed out loud on that one.

An unnecessary shot at two young men.  By all accounts, they have done nothing but work their tails off for the team.  They don't deserve this type of an attempt at humor.

Sorry.  They're all fine.  Here's something that's not a joke, though:  all three are FCS or D-II QBs on scholarship at an FBS school.  They're all doing better than they deserve.  Much better.  If they don't like the slings and arrows of being an FBS QB, they can voluntarily give up their scholarships.

Here's something else that's not a joke:  Marshall adding their names to the long list of school that will demolish us this year because none of those three should be on scholarship at an FBS school.

See, there...I can be serious.

To be fair, at least FCS/D-II schools would be happy to have DaMarcus. They wouldn't touch McNuggets/Greer with a 10 foot pole

Personally, I think Demarcus could prove otherwise.  You can argue that he never made it (preDenton) onto the roster at any of his previous stops, but I'm seeing a guy at WKU that is getting NFL talk.  Smith seems to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I look forward to watching how he develops, while at the same time hoping we snag a solid QB in the next recruiting cycle.
