Count me out. I'd rather have briles, meachem, or cumbie. Kids in Texas want to play spread, not triple option.

Read the article I posted. He ran the spread at Sam Houston before being forced to run the triple option last year at Georgia Southern.

And he still won.

Get it?

Thank you for pointing that out. He has been forced to run the triple option, and has adapted and excelled.

He ran a hybrid spread option at Sam Houston. Read here:

Another point in his favor.

after reading that I am convinced he would be a great fit. Offer him 4 years 3.2 million. (Interestingly the amount just donated)  With a built-in extension and raise based on performance. I think that gets him here.

I think we keep our options open but if he can run the spread here I'll admit I'm interested.  He's not young but he's not old.  He strikes me as a terrific evaluator of talent who excels at it no matter where you place him.  Here in Texas, with our resources he could be phenomenal.

The 2011 Sam Houston stats http://www.nmnathletics.com/fls/19900/stats/football/2011/TEAMCUME.HTM  when the team went 14-1 and lost in the FCS Championship

700 Rushing Attempts

274 Passing Attempts

2012 Stats http://www.nmnathletics.com/fls/19900/stats/football/2012/TEAMCUME.HTM

742 Rushing Attempts

334 Passing Attempts

Either way.... a VERY run happy team

This year Georgia Southern has run 336 times and passed 70 times.

1988...Scott Daviis throws for 400 yards against Texas.

1990...Scott Davis runs for 200 against SMU.

That was our offense under Corky.  Take the talent you have and run and throw it where they ain't.  Not the bullshit of pounding a round peg into a square hole mentality we've dealt with the past 18 years.  I'm so sick of that.

And btw...we're not hiring Fritz away from GSU..that opportunity was wasted by  RV 4 years ago.  It's beautiful there, they're an FBS program now and the fans love and support their program because they have a history of winning and taking it to the P5's (Nearly beat Ga Tech last year).  So you might as well stop with that fantasy.

All the love Fritz is getting makes me happy, but I think this is the truth.

Money talks. Fritz makes 400K. We could more than double that if we so chose. He'd be on the next flight to DFW.

I hope you're right.

I actually hope I'm wrong. I'm not a fan of him. But anyone in their right mind would take over double the salary. If UNT REALLY wanted him they could close to triple it. It's just not a move I would like. There are far better coaches out there for 900K-1.2M than Fritz.
