If he really can't put a finger on anything, then we really don't have much hope for the rest of the season.

I think you expect too much candor from Canales, considering the position he's in.

He can't say the players quit on the team. He has to motivate them.

He can't hammer McCarney for coaching mistakes. He has to turn the page.

Do you happen to know what social media? I'm just curious.

Found it.

it was everywhere at tailgating it was here at 10:16am on that Saturday Oct 10th  there is almost no way these kids did not pick up on it and it explains how they played.

This is the AD's fault. Loose lips sink ships.

i notice a lot of players kept looking at the stands and not the game.  Never seen that before.

I was getting frustrated looking at Blake Macek doing this.  We were getting our butts kicked and he was looking up in the stands (helmet off) with big smiles on his face at a group of girls that were in the walkway between the upper and lower sections shouting down at the players.  He was getting the attention of another player to look up at the girls too.   This was while the game was going on and it wasn't brief.  It seemed like Macek's brain wasn't on the game.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, I saw Marcus Smith pacing around, slamming things and shouting.   That's what we should have seen more of.

Connor Means was doing similar, hamming it up with a group in the stands, presumably his family.  It was a WTF moment for me...

The players were looking at a < 2 win season and you think they were surprised to hear about Mac being let go?

Yes I do hours before a game, maybe the end of the season. Or at least on a Monday.

I saw this mentioned in another thread. I found it comforting that this was the reason the team gave up. They were clearly at a funeral and didn't want to fight. It was better than thinking they just gave up for no reason. Shame on the AD for this getting out.

I hope the team fights tonight.

Just more unprofessional behavior from the athletic director. No one is shocked at this point.
