Former Texas A&M football player Thomas Linze Johnson was out of football and out of his home.

And, Dallas police say, he was angry. Johnson allegedly took out that rage Monday morning by hacking a jogger to death with a “large-edged weapon” on the White Rock Creek Trail, police said.

“It appears Mr. Johnson picked this victim at random. Absolutely random,” Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin said. “He just attacked him. … It’s just very unusual. It’s quite shocking.”

Johnson, a former star wide receiver, will be charged with murder. He is currently in the Dallas County jail.

Police said officers were called shortly before 8 a.m. and found a man stabbed near White Rock Creek Trail underneath Walnut Hill Lane.

Seems like I always read about some random violence around White Rock Creek.  If I ever take up running again, I'll be sure to avoid that area.

Just to be safe, I think I'll never take up running again.  Where's the cooler?  I need another beer.

You jest, but I own a fixed blade knife.  You could call it a combat knife, a hunting knife, a diving knife.  Irrelevant.  It has a handle and a 7-inch blade. It is one of my most useful tools.  It is also illegal in Texas. It is apparently also illegal in Arkansas as I had it confiscated at a checkpoint this past summer.  It is not illegal enough though, because I easily replaced it with Amazon Prime three days after Arkansas stole it from me.
