So. Miss. was 11&2 in 2011, and won its bowl game. Their coach moved on to greener pastures, his replacement was 0&12 in 2012, and was fired. His replacement won 1 game in 2013, 3 games in 2014, and is 3&3 this year. I would not expect a quick fix from whomever we hire.

Agree. It will take three or four years for a new coach to get us back to a 2013-type record. He will have to recruit, coach up the talent that is here, recruit, take in a few transfers at need positions, and recruit. He will most likely install and teach a different offense and, based on his personnel evaluations, change the defensive scheme. I think that is why it takes a minimum five-year contract to attract a quality coach. JMO.

Rudy, why would you think this is going to be a quick fix? We have no D1 players on the roster to speak of and we will have  a new recruiting staff.Besides, I don't think the head football coach at North Texas is a sought after job, especially since we have fired every football coach hired since 1980.

I said it could be.  If you hire the right coach.  And why shouldn't it be a sought after job?  Great facilities, CUSA, more improvements coming, in a talent rich recruiting hotbed of DFW.  There should be plenty of P5 coordinators or head coaches that want to prove they can do the job.

Agree with you that we have the physical things in place. IMO, the things that hold us back are intangible (itemized by many on this Board). It will take a coach with giant huevos to take this job if he is secure and happy in his current situation. Again, JMO.
