Fire the AD?  You do know that North Texas is contractually obligated to extend the athletic director's contract if he hires the new coach?

Where did you find this out? There's gotta be no way they would extend him just to let him make another hire.

Did you see what happened to the program after Fry rolled the dice with this program and lost?  We experienced some early success only to have the program end up in the toilet.  Have you seen what happened recently when we hired a Fry disciple?  Some early success only to end up in the toilet, and it appears it will cost us nearly $3 million to let him go.

In the end, was the short term success worth the long term repercussions?  Tough to say.

Rolled the dice and lost?  Fry's last four years we were 33-11; last two years 19-3.  If that's the toilet, then take us there.  The only repercussions were of our own doing.  Our own administration was responsible for our drop to 1-AA.  Our fans didn't support winning football significantly and that cost us a possible bowl (and there were precious few back in those days).  No, Hayden did not set us up for a fall.  We did that on our own.

1)...Three donors no one around here had ever heard of before 4-5 years ago.  Even still...despite being "new fans" surely they too understand ROI and will demand accountability.

2) Did we even consider asking Mac to resign first before firing him...possibly saving the university some of the money?  If you think that's possible that we didn't you haven't paid attention to how things are run around here.

3) The next time you consider extending a coach's contract...if no one else wants them...you don't extend them.  It's fairly simple.

What in the heck are you talking about? Do you have a clue? Where did Fry fail?

When he was not able to get North Texas in the SWC he bolted amid mounting debt.  He started out with a couple of mediocre years followed by 4 good years (and for that I am grateful) at the ultimate price of dropping to 1-AA (for this I am not grateful).  You tell me, was it worth it?  I am not so sure. I would like to see what would have happened if we had not gambled and lost.  I guess I would not have minded so much had we not paid such a heavy price.

McCarney came is and had a couple of mediocre years and then one really good year at the expense of having an additional 2 bad years and a $3million buyout.  You tell me, was it worth it?  I think we are probably better off if he had never came here (could not imagine saying this 1.5 years ago in Cotton Bowl Stadium.

Two Iowa guys that brought a little bit of success, but eventually cost us more than any others.
