If I want to listen to someone lying to me and trying to tell me nothing is wrong and everything is awesome, I'll go to work.

Highlights anyone?

Every team we played is a great team.  I played at Iowa years ago.  I won a national championship at Florida with Charlie Strong. Change is weakness.  Smith can't produce consistently in practice, so he doesn't get his shot.  I'll do a back flip for an interception.  I haven't done a back flip since sixth grade (told this story twice).  Then about 15 minutes of Cowboys/Lance Dunbar post game show. Lots of people are throwing dirt on us.  SAVE MY JOB!

No, seriously, he was repeatedly going into hard, defeated used car salesman mode trying to sell his resume.  You could clearly tell he's feeling the heat.

Absolutely accurate. To add to this, if you listened to his presser from earlier in the day, it's eery how similar this was. Like, I'm not even joking, he even has his Freudian slips occur in the same stages of his shticks. I literally started thinking "wait, did I listen to this last night? Oh yeah, that was his presser."

Also:

1. When he talked about how people were throwing dirt on him he thanked the people in attendance as if no other fans deserve praise, even if they are justified and just want the best for the team. Shame on you for not being there or not having faith in Mccarney. Let me remind you people here about my national championship or Iowa background in case you forgot.

2. The record breaking shoot out we had with Navy in 2007 was brought up. Mccarney said we won't have to worry about seeing a score like that since we have Chris Cosh. The same Chris Cosh whose defense allowed 62 points (the exact amount we scored against Navy that day) nine days prior to yesterday's show.

3. The change is weak thing was ridiculous. Getting your teeth kicked every week isn't showing weakness? That's what our friends and co-workers want to hear. "Yeah we don't play the same caliber of opponents that you guys do at 'X BIG12 school' and our still getting worked every week but hey, at least our coach isn't showing weakness. You idiots at TCU think winning because of changing offensive philosophy is cool? So what? SIGN OF WEAKNESS!"

4. Back to the similarities from his presser earlier in the day, Mccarney kept referencing that they had many "D1 transfers" on their team, and that they can drop down a level and be not have to sit out. A coach who has been around as long as he has makes it sound as if he doesn't know that Portland State is a D1 school themselves. It irks me when fans don't know the difference, really frustrates me when high school coaches don't understand the difference, but a college coach? He knows, but I guess even the little things are making me mad at this point.

That really rubbed me the wrong way. He's insinuating that there are ups and downs with this program, and the people who are upset now are not true fans, otherwise they'd support the program while it's down. First, the program has been down for a decade outside of the 2013 anomaly, and second you should be f'n glad we're throwing dirt on you. It shows that the fans still care enough about the program to want to win, which is something that can't be said for a lot of people in the program right now.

As to #1, he is just taking his cue from the AD, who has used personal manipulation with key individuals to ensure his job is safe regardless of job performance.

Pretty smart of Mac in this highly dysfunctional environment, don't you think?
