Can we give up saying the word 6 for awhile. I mean every bit of blood sweat and tear needs to go into beating Portland State this week. There is no other game to even talk about because if PSU comes in and waxes us which they totally could we are looking at our first O-fer season since I have been alive. And I am a 60's child.

So don't mention UTEP and UTSA. Those nightmares will come. Focus on the Vikings and somehow pulling the upset on your home turf in front of 8,999 fans.

5 thoughts on the season

1. The season is ugly...........more than most of us thought possible.

2. Lose to Portland State and we will have hit a new low.

3. We play Western Kentucky the next game. They just beat Rice 49 - 10. That game has real ugly painted all over it.

4. The game after that we play Marshall. They beat Purdue by 10. What will the point spread be for that one?

5. I don't want to hear any more comparisons to DD as it is insulting to Dickey.

There is one win possible for this team, and that game happens in 6 days.

Lose that game, and 0-12 is staring you right in the face.

My Five Quick Thoughts...

1. Portland State could be the most important game in our history. I know it's sad, but it might be true. North Texas has never had a season where we have failed to win a single game, unless you count our first year of football, 102 years ago, when we went 0-1 against TCU in 1913. Let that sink in.

2. Mac has led this team to a worse start then Dodge did. The numbers don't lie.

3. We will be crowned #1 in the Bottom 25. Going into the USM game we were already in second place. No, it isn't a real poll, but it isn't the kind of publicity we want. Of course SMU is the reigning Bottom 25 Champ, and they did get a new coach out of it. But, in our case, that's probably not enough to turn this program around.

4. Attendance will be bad for Portland State. If we lose, our attendance for the Thursday night WKU game will look worse then a Tuesday night MAC crowd, and I won't even speculate on how bad the score will be.

5. Smatresk needs to step up and lead. Changes need to be made, and I don't mean letting Canales be the scapegoat. The problem is bigger then just him. Lots of blame to go around.
