I don't think I can appropriately answer that question without the ban hammer coming down.

tempting though isn't it? Could be worth it.

I am sure you could pull it off inside the rules, go ape sh*t.

Actually, Portland State has a history with Teams from Texas.  Back when we were an independent Division II power, we had a rather strong and intense with Texas A&I- Kingsville (now A&M- Kingsville and still D-II.  We played them 12 times in 10 years, usually during the D-II playoffs. Around 10 or 12 years ago (tail end of the Tim Walsh era) after we had been in the Big Sky for a few years, We brought A&M Kingsville to Portland for a rematch.  IIRC we also visited Stephen F. Austin that year.

If we don't beat Portland State, which I'm not sure we will, we go 0-12.

Wear black to the game.  If you have a black UNT shirt, wear it!

alright. Black it is.

I'm just surprised you guys weren't afraid to play us this year. You know, Northern Arizona refused to play us because of our awesome power...

Or did they...

I also want to let you guys know that despite our current unexpected success, we aren't taking you guys lightly.

Oh!  Good!  Homeboy from an FCS school is letting us know he expects to win, but is being humble about it.

This is how far we've fallen.

If we lose this game...

We need to stop the hurry up crap and burn the clock on Saturday. With our RB's, if we can't overpower a FCS team with a slow methodical running game then we REALLY must suck. I haven't bothered to look at their 2-deep yet, but I would hope that we've got a size advantage in the trenches. If not, Mac needs to blow off Iowa and start recruiting the Pacific Northwest.

Come on, man. We run a run-first hurry up with a QB that completes less than 50% of his passes.

That's coaching right there...

You wound me sir...... never meant to sound like I was trying to trash talk..... after three seasons at the bottom of our conference and losing every winnable game, we are not letting where we are now, go to our heads.  We know that things can change in an instant and we could end up where we was predicted to be this year, at the bottom of our conference.

Besides, we of the Big Sky like to save our trash talk for when we play either Montana or Montana State.

Are you sure? We need a rival and our AD loves his FCS games, so...  Success?

I appreciate your humility.  If you guys win this game, please, please continue to be graceful or there will be a few funerals on this board... and we love our people.

Not taking an FBS team "lightly" when you represent an FCS school should never even cross your mind though.  An FCS team should always be amped-up to play a FBS team.  I think it speaks more to the state of our program than it does y'alls' success, honestly.  I'll be pulling for you guys the rest of the way, but unless our team has quit on our coach (entirely possible), this should be a win for the Mean Green.  Not a Nicholls St. beatdown (last year, we beat FCS Nicholls St. 77-3), but it shouldn't be very close.

If the team has quit on McCarney, all bets are off.

Or did they...

About 4 years ago, our university president said our football program had to become self-sufficient. so to that end we started scheduling two money games each year, which has managed to cover our travel for the rest of the season.

Last few years we have had tried to get one or two PAC-12 opponents, especially if we can snag Oregon or Oregon State. But with this new college playoff system, the PAC 12 contenders are trying to avoid cupcake games for their OOC schedule in favor of teams from the other power conferences.

We got $525,000 from Washington State. I'm not sure what the payout is from you guys, but when every dollar counts, we aren't going to allow our pride turn down an opportunity when it presents itself.

Actually there is a movement in the background, especially if we can manage to win consistently win, manage to put butts in the seats and can to compete with Oregon and Oregon State for the hearts and minds of Oregonians, of moving up to the next level, possibly in the Mountain West conference.

Right now it is a pipe dream, but.... if we were to do so, it would be nice to have a ready made rivalry to make it all the more interesting.

we started scheduling two money games each year,

Funny. So do we. At Iowa and at Tennessee this year.

We aren't so different, our two programs.

No offense, but I think I'll go burn my season tickets now...

Well, I hate to break it to you but this is a team from Oregon that recruits locally. They have this monstrous true freshman at nose tackle named Sidney Sasquatch that is going to stuff any run between the tackles. He also bats down any passes attempted from the pocket. Gonna be a long afternoon for the offense.

Bet he's the strong and silent type. We could use some of that.

I believe I read we are paying you about 425K for this game.  Welcome to the board btw -- appreciate you sharing your knowledge about the state program.
