thanks for all this information, it's very cool to read...

i would hope that mcnutty starts to trust the TEs more...they seem to be open across the middle more and loving/smith have the same total catches as harris...they are big dudes and could prove to be a nice safety net for mcnutty if he can get them the ball.

Chris Loving is 2nd on the team in targets and Marcus Smith is 3rd. So that trust is building. Like you I would just like to see more of those targets be further down the field.

Good read as always.

We have a few positives, and hopefully they outweigh the negatives.

We picked Mullens off twice last year.  K. McClain and Lee.  Hopefully we can end our drought of no Ints.

Harris had a big day against them last season, so he will get some attention. Hopefully that opens up more.  I agree that mcnulty could have a decent day.  I think we can move the ball.

We need to get turnovers and we can't settle for field goals.

Good analysis.  Just hoping Jeff Wilson has a big showing in this game.  That will open up so much of the passing game.

They do a lot of work over the middle with Martin who ends up playing in the slot. They are going to be in 3 WR pretty much all day. So Mullens gets into trouble staring a guy down over the middle and thats why our safeties made plays. He has been lights out since the 1st game though. He hasnt really faced a good secondary since Miss St. Not saying ours is good, just wanted to point it out.

Harris will get attention, but I get the feeling from hearing Monken speak that they arent too worried about him. Monken made it seem like they just need to worry about themselves this week and the game will take care of itself. He said something like we just need to know North Texas better than they know us. He did praise Carlos, but didnt stress that they are focused  on him.

FGs wont win this game. Has to be TDs. Cant stress that enough.

I agree.  the problem is we don't score a lot of points.  I think we will need turnovers.

You will essentially need a perfect Mac game. Offense does enough. Defense creates short fields and points. Special Teams is special creating short field's and possible point. Every phase of the game has to complement each other. Its the only way.

Dont believe we can win a shootout

Dont believe we can shut them down completely.

Dont believe that one phase can completely dominate the game

if they do a lot over the middle, it could be a long day for our lbs and safeties.  We are have been hesitant with playing nickel in the past, so I know it's even more unlikely with the inexperience and injuries.  That means LBs in coverage...field day for USM.  Just gotta hope for some mistakes.

Hope fully the run game wont be such a big threat so our safeties can concentrate on covering and making plays on the ball.  Corners are gonna be 10 yards off...dink and dunk.

USM will most likely let harris go off again as long as he doesn't get in the endzone.  I can see them allowing us to drive and just wait for mistakes and settling for 3.

This. I heard a rumor that we have someone on the sideline that can hand off the ball and hit a receiver in stride running a post route. Just a rumor, hasn't been tried.

I've heard that Mac has had a great week of practice, so I'm optimistic.

You could even say he had a solid game against Iowa, so there's even more reason to expect great things.
