But RV is a wonderful AD?

At this point, I think most of us are just numb to it all...lose at home to a FCS team nobody has ever heard of on Homecoming weekend? whatever... Finish 0-12 and keep the same head coach and AD? just perfect...Watch SMU win 1 game this year and its us? of course...

When we get called the idiot board by the folks in the AD, its probably because they cannot believe anyone cares enough to even watch this crap, much less help fund it.

Can idiots call other people idiots?

There should be a law against that.

According to final 2008 Sagarin ratings, this year's North Texas team would be a 2 point favorite over 2008's North Texas team on a neutral field.

That 2008 team finish 171 behind such powerhouses as Hofstra (now defunct), Sacramento St., Albany, Colgate, and The Citadel.

Coincidentally, finishing 1 place behind that 2008 North Texas team at 172 with a mere 0.46 points difference between them was one Portland St. University.

So basically, we're pretty much right back where we started.

That was one heck of a roller coaster ride, then...

This would make the 2003 team a 17+ point favorite?  Sounds about right.

18.4 on a neutral field.

I was assuming a neutral field since both are the home team, but I guess the better way to look at it would be

@Fouts: -21

@Apogee: -14

Which makes sense since the 2003 team would spend most of the first half looking around Apogee and thinking "Holy Shit, why couldn't I have played here?  Hey did anyone notice the 'artifical turf' isn't a thin layer of carpet over concrete?!"

Right now everyone should be higher, we have not proved we can beat anyone.  I thought last year was bad.

Last year's 4-8 record was actually a pretty good for us. Since 1995, when we moved back up to I-A (FBS), we have won 4 or more games in one season 8 times--out of 20 years.

The silver lining is that if the game is being played at Apogee, there are only 24 FCS teams that we would not be statistical favorites.

That what i like a glass half full person!  I guess we should all be more positive.  I am looking forward to the basketball season.

UNT needs to get serious about our revenue sports or cancel the damn programs altogether. The status quo is a damn joke. I'm tired of it. It's pathetic and an embarrassment to the university, the students, the student athletes, the alumni, and what few fans left. RV needs to go immediately and let the new AD do what he/she deems necessary. I'm so angry and tired of this loser culture at the athletic department. It's unacceptable.

Maybe we should have just given Dodge another 5 years?

In pro football when you lose all of your games at least you get the first draft pick. In college you are just a joke. The alumni are angry. And we have a right to be. In the 5 stages of grief the alumni are angry, perhaps moving toward bargaining or even depression. The administration and coaching staff are just in denial and stay there. I don't normally say anything about the players but I just don't see any fight in them. Or pride for that matter. These kids don't have to have visiting teams come into Fouts and be embarrassed by things outside of their control. They just lay down and embarrass themselves and us be extension. Perhaps I am moving through depression into acceptance!

When I am in the pits, I try to read something inspirational. Here's a little something for you (with apologies to Winston Churchill):

 “We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in Hattiesburg, we shall run between the tackles and occasionally gain the corners, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our line of scrimmage, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight at midfield, we shall fight in the red zone, we shall fight on the goal line and in the end zone, we shall fight after the play is over; we shall never surrender.”

Portland St -- 128  55.01

North Texas -- 156  49.39

Home advantage -- 3.37

Adjusted differential -- 2.25

So, for our homecoming, against FCS Portland St., as of today, before we lose to Southern Miss, Portland St. should open as a 2 point favorite.

Let that sink in.  FCS Portland St., visiting our home stadium, for homecoming, should mathematically be favored on the opening line.

Edit:  Link for proof.

If we win, which I hope we do, at least we'll get credit for an upset.
