It's all very reasonable until...

It's like they say in Luxembourg:  "There's a time to kick ass, and a time to take names.  But, nobody - nobody - f*cks with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg!"

Uh oh... now that is starting to sound like the old TFLF.

Maybe we've been going about this all wrong and he's simply waking up, The Long Kiss Goodnight style...

Take the pills TFLF.  Yes, we know you feel better, it's because of the pills!  Keep taking them!

Sort by CUSA and see that McCarney is the third highest paid coach in the conference.

His $711K compensation in 2014 (which I can't tell if it includes things like radio stipend or car allowance) is a far cry from the $275K we paid that high school water boy.

To say we literally can't pay market rate for a coach today is patently false.  A more accurate statement might be that we won't buy out a failure.

you ever used the phrase: "you couldn't pay me to do that?" I mean that coaches worth their salt would take less money to be somewhere else than come here. too many respected coaches have shit all over this place for too many years.

Norm Hitzges once said that North Texas is the place where coaching careers go to die. He's right. Until our lame ass BOR decides that winning is important, this will be the case. The losing culture here is so dominate, that I don't think anyone has any idea how to win. No goals, not standards, no expectations. Only losing. I've been a season ticket holder/Mean Green Club member for many years and I'm tired of getting kicked in the nuts week in, week out, year after year. We are a small time program that settles for losing. We accept losing. We're OK with it.  I don't look forward to game days anymore because, what's the point?  Our athletic department is a joke and places no emphasis on winning.  The worst part?  We are irrelevant in our conference, our state and to the general public.

2013 was an illusion and I have checked out.

Nope.  You're still one level too high.  Firing Mac = too expensive.   Chico is your trophy to show the fan base they are serious about winning... because he's cheaper to let go.

Cheaper? He is free to let go. Contract up after this season.
