What would you do if they locked your ass in the bottom of a stadium two weeks ago, and fed you freaken year old nacho chips and cheese, and had some guys ghost write your column for you?

I would come out spewin venom too......I mean this is the only explanation from in two weeks going from "NT is going to pull the upset and beat Rice" to "It's meltdown time in Denton"

That's what is great about Brett, the consistency.

A university of 37,000 students can do better than what is being produced on the field and on the court.  Surely, someone with a big stick cares...stay tuned to see what will happen.  I don't think Smatrek will endure this much longer.

"The Mean Green desperately need something to go right, and quickly. A win on Saturday at Southern Miss would help a ton. The odds just seem long at this point"

Getting rid of our AD and failing coaches would help even more.

Mac has shown himself to be a snake oil salesman this year. Vito was fed the Mini-Mac is so improved line for too long and that has soured him on Dan. Mac pushed in a lot of chips betting on #5, this is what happens when you miss.

I hope he goes after Benford this year, that has been long overdue.

If McNulty excelled at SOMETHING it might be a different story and there would at least be a little hope, but I'm just not seeing anything that could make him a positive difference maker on the field at this level. I really don't get what Mac is seeing out there.

"I hear from UNT fans quite a bit. I just haven’t sense this much of a sense of hopelessness in a long time."

I'd revise "long time" and say "ever." In the past there were goals such as to get back to D1, get better facilities, get in a better conference, get student turnout, ect. UNT football got it all and failed. So, yes. It's hopeless until they clean house and change the culture.

I'm sure you are making reference to the culture of the athletic department, but our UNIVERSITY CULTURE needs to change as well.

I've said this for years, (actually decades), but our athletic events look like contracted events. All the parties necessary for a football event show up, do their required thing (minimally most of the time) and then go their separate ways after the game, having fulfilled their contractual obligation.......minimally.

Where's the passion? Where's the connection?
