Has UNT Athletics become or has it always been a sweet cash cow whereby a select few individuals cash handsome paychecks and feast on prime rib and lobster served on expensive dinnerware while the rank and file are handed a paper plate filled with heaping helpings of incompetence, mediocrity, excuses, lies, arrogance and failure year after year?

How can anyone or any group of people morally, ethically and knowledgeably extend the contracts and pay of certain individuals based on superficial and underwhelming job performance? Is this also an example of incompetence by those in positions of leadership? How else can one explain the decisions being made that not only stagnate our revenue sports but cripple them for years as well. Intentional? After 45 years I'm beginning to wonder.

Rv, Mac and Benford can help this University and the UNT faithful by resigning today. Apogee and the Super Pit will never be filled under RV's tenure because the coaches he hired will never be successful here at winning games. Of course there is the one time exception as for the winning using OGR's. "Other guys recruits"

Let's not cast stones at our best donors.  They are supporting the program at a high level and we should be grateful for that.

My issue is that we need more of them and fans in general. To attract that we need a winning product.

Well I was actually thinking in terms of Jackson, the BOR and our new President. However, if high level donors have paid their way into the decision making process then I guess the shoe fits. Look I'm grateful for everyone who buys season tickets, joins the Mean Green Club and gives money to the program at all levels. We've been season ticket holders in football and basketball and MGC members for years and I can tell you that as much as I love UNT it is getting more and more difficult to renew each year because it has become nothing more than an endorsement of failure. Is that so difficult to understand?

There is absolutely no excuse for the current state of North Texas Athletics. Period.

Wait, What?

I think if we won on a consistent basis, those suckers will start to fill up. We have never posted a back to back winning season in football since the early 2000's (2004-2002). Our student base is so much larger than it was back in the early 2000's so if we put a product on the field that wins, our students will come and alumni would be more willing to come as well.

Our Enrollment is 36,168 for 2015 and I think I found the right info showing that our enrollment in 1999 was 26,493. 10 K isnt that big of a difference but I think having Apogee, a fan friendly place, helps bring people in. Our product doesnt but just think if we could string together 3 winning seasons like we did in '02-'04. Our student fan base has been somewhat strong the last 3 years in my opinion. We start winning consistently and that student section will grow leaps and bounds.

I'll cast stones at them. They are wasting their money with this current regime. They need to fold up their wallet and walk away so real change can take place. Until then, it's statis quo. So as far as I'm concerned they are a part of the problem, believe it or not.

OK, let's be constructive about this approach: Do you have any experience or observations to relate to us that indicate getting rid of donors HELPS an athletic program?  Because, IMO, ridding a program of fans and money does not make any sense.

He wa more along the lines that if they can win them people will fill up our venues. These people aren't capable of winning so they aren't capable of filling up our venues.

Also, 10k increase is pretty significant. It's almost a 30% increase. In 10 more years if we stay in that pace we'll be around 50k.

OK, let's be constructive about this approach: Do you have any experience or observations to relate to us that indicate getting rid of donors HELPS an athletic program?  Because, IMO, ridding a program of fans and money does not make any sense.

It promotes displeasure in the loudest possible way. That's how. Otherwise, everything will stay on the given course. Are you happy with the course we are on?

Sorry, I didn't do a very good job in explaining what I meant. I edited the post. Yes, I agree with you. Winning will make the difference.

Your mindset reads familiar.  Does your conscious tell you to rid the program of babies, too?

Hey Bob -- I know you -- I saw you in the stands at SMU from a distance and I would bet you were probably at the Rice game as well.  I know you are a good fan and you care.  I know you just want the best for this University and I appreciate you for that.  I think everyone feels your pain, and is frustrated about where things stand right now.  The status quo is just unacceptable.

My advisement is to be patient and let things play out for awhile longer.  Keep supporting the program despite your frustration because the players deserve it.

Wait, you actually think Lee Jackson is a donor for the athletics program, or otherwise gives a rat's ass about UNT?

Or, do you think he (or the BOR) would allow taking funds out of the annual budget (you know, "academic stuff") to fire some coaches?

If anything is to be done, it will be via privately-raised funds.
