After the first game, Mini-Mac was at the bottom.  After a couple of more games, I would thought I would check-in to see where he stood.

Well, he's no longer the worst statistically speaking.  That belongs to a freshman QB Bo Schneider (from Dallas) at UCF who replaced an injured Justin Holman who was their starting QB.  In his three games ever at the collegiate level, 2 of his 3 starts were @Stanford and @South Carolina.

If it wasn't for the 93 yard TD against Rice, Bo Schneider would have a high QBR than McNulty, against 2 power 5 teams.  His completion percentage is also above 50%...

The low ranking is partially understandable when a player is a freshman or sophomore starting his first season.       I am just stunned at our situation.   It's almost unbelievable.

One thing seems painfully clear to me....if those were Dajon's numbers, he'd be pulled in a New York minute.

I honestly feel bad for AM.  He's been put in a absolute no-win (no pun intended) situation here.

That is "solid" QB performance right there.

Statistically speaking, McNulty did worse against Iowa than he did against SMU.  His QB rating was 74.5 against Iowa and 76.6 against SMU.

In case you're curious how I calculate the passer rating, here is the formula:

NCAA Passer Rating = ((8.4 x Passing Yards) + (330 + Touchdown Passes) + (100 x Number of Completions) – (200 x Interceptions)) / Passing Attempts

ESPN's QB rating slants the stats based off of how hard or how easy the opponent is.  To me, that unfairly gives an advantage to the P5 programs as you will get more favoritism due to "tougher" defenses.

I think your thinking of QBR.

ESPN calculates Passer Rating the same way you said in your equation. Which his rating was 65.3 against Iowa.

Completion percentage100 * completions / attempts100 * 14 / 3638.89
Yards per attempt8.4 * yards / attempts8.4 * 137 / 3631.97
Touchdowns330 * touchdowns / attempts330 * 0 / 36-0-
Interceptions-200 * interceptions / attempts-200 * 1 / 36-5.56
Computed rating (total points):65.30

Well at least he tries. Rather have the player put forth his max effort than sucking & loafing.

I can totally respect effort but unfortunately Mac's Inability to properly recruit falls at the feet of McNulty because he is our "Best" Option. Sometimes Trying just doesn't Cut it though. In life when one tries his hardest and fails, he still gets criticized and fired.
