4. How big of a recruit was Andrew McNulty in Iowa?

He was one of those guys that Iowa and Iowa State both watched, and recruited, but didn’t pull the trigger on. Andrew played with Steve Ferentz, the youngest son of Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.

Here’s what Kirk said about Andrew this week: “When Andrew was playing in high school, he was a really good player. Just an all-around, versatile, just the things we were talking about, a guy that had great judgment, was really poised, and very dangerous. He’s gotten his opportunity now at North Texas. He’s doing a great job. He really played very well last week. So we better be ready to go, because he’s a good football player and a real competitor. I saw that at a young age from him.”

That's what I'd say about a kid I didn't recruit who was from my home town and knew my family but I still knew couldn't play a down of FBS football at any school in America...except one, apparently.

Seems like an objective appraisal by the Iowa writer. My antennae pick up unwritten messages that the Hawkeyes want to build a quick lead and coast so as not to embarrass Mac.

"he's doing a great job" lol...the political correctness. It's appalling.

We all know the summation of Andrew's career, but this coach probably has a small sample size for review and Rice is the most recent.  Regardless of his career, Andrew did fine vs. Rice.
