What gets you out of the bottom 10? 3 wins? 4 wins?

Wins.......Southern Miss, Portland State, UTSA and UTEP

I don't think we win every winnable game left on the schedule.

Give me Portland St. And UTSA for the wins, bob.

There are generally enough 1-11 teams out there that a second win gets you out.  3 wins definitely gets you out.  But if there are 2 wins, and one is over an FCS team, you'll be flirting on the doorstep.

We will beat Portland State and then maybe one more--most likely against UTEP in that last game of the season at Apogee. 2-10 at best. We aren't beating USM on the road. And I'll only believe we beat UTSA when I see the scoreboard show it at 0:00. They absolutely own us... All of the other teams are G5 teams that are just way better than us right now or are P5 giants that are gonna pay for our non-revenue sports.

2016 is when you hope you can get back to winning 3-4 games, that the power running game will be behind a OL that will get more experienced and stronger after this year, even while breaking in a new busdriver.

2017 is the year to really see where things go. We either fire Mac like we did Dodge in 2010, when a winning year is officially out of the realm of possibility, or he turns in a 2013 year and we get bowl eligible again. At that point, if the latter occurs, with one year left on Mac's contract--a decision will have to be made: he either get an extension  or he gets replaced, assuming of course that Mac doesn't announce that 2018 would be his last year, to retire at the end of his last year of his contract.

Everyone seems to take the Portland State game as a walk in the park. I posted they were 2-1 but I  was wrong.

They are 2 - 0 with a road win at  2 -1 Washington State.  Portland scored 24 points on WS in the 2nd half.

They are a top 20 FCS team. They are hard to run on. (2.5 yards per carry) Both wins are on the road.

Pardon me, but my confidence is a little shaky at the moment.

They beat Idaho State for the other game. We shut down the run game and we easily.

Portland State has a strong Run Game and WSU has a very very weak Run Defense that allows almost 200 yards a game. Take the fact that it was very dreary weather game that limits WSU pass offense and they really dont have a run game and you get that turn out. Maybe you're right, Maybe they will go on to win their national championship in their division but I have faith in this North Texas team that they will win this game and I hope to God that the Alumni base shows up strong for the Homecoming game but the Alumni Base has let me down before.

Homecoming is shaping up to be the perfect storm, we are likely to be 0-4, homecoming is listed at 4:00 (6:00pm is much better), TX-OU weekend with the game starting at 1:00pm wont be over until after 4:00pm plus all the parties in the DFW area. Topped with it is still a FCS opponent that may beat us. Now all we need is the weather to be threatening. With a little MLB distraction thrown in with the rangers. Only good new is it appears only the national league is playing on the 10th.

I don't expect the usual homecoming crowd this could not be timed worse, thank you RV.

Homecoming is usually 6:00 PM I think once it was 3:00 the parade is usually around 11:00 am

Im sorry, I meant the Texas-OU game.

I dont understand at all why we would do a 4PM game and not 6PM which is when we have always done Homecoming  but DOES it surprise you at all?

Even if the Texas/OU game is at 11am, which I bet it will be, and if the weather is perfect outside, none of that will make more than a few UNT fans go, "Oh great!! Now that one of my favorite t-shirt teams' game is over, I can get to the riveting Homecoming game between 0-4 UNT and some school from Portland!!"

I have never wasted a cent or a minute on a FCS opponent at Apogee and I won't start now, especially with the very real possibility that we could lose. If the AD won't make a better effort with scheduling in OOC play, especially for Homecoming, then we deserve to have a ton of empty seats--and I am certain that will be the case. I truly expect the SMU ticket counter technique to be used very effectively for this game and every other home game after it.

RV is a Stud isn't he, he seems to get more clueless and lazier by the year. RV's BS does just get thicker and thicker, I think the TCU guys called him a snake oil salesman which is never a good thing, I am really getting it the last few years.

Regardless of people at the game they will count all season tickets, band, student allocation, support personnel and any other sold tickets and mulitply with probably a modifier  of some percentage to add and come up with a much larger attendance than actual.

Exactly--on all points.

RV served a nice purpose here--getting the MGC going, setting up tailgating, talking up the university's teams...all of those done in his early years here were just brilliant. Whether it was Helwig, Dr. Hurley, or any other leader you want to point to before RV was here, all we got served was a $hit sandwich. That I-aa fiasco haunts us till, but coming back from it was no smooth ride, either. To put lipstick on a pig by adding 10k aluminum seats that were a mile away from the field in 1994 and having no budget so scheduling every away $$$ game you could was never going to work toward creating a winner. So when RV got here, he looked at it all and basically made us believe we could get things going in the right direction. And with Dickey's SBC run, and then JJ's turnaround in hoops, he had points where he showed competence as the AD.

To everyone but the BOR and the big monied donors, that competence has completely gone. You get gifted a new stadium from the SGA's leadership, yet schedule WORSE than you did at Fouts. You hire a high school coach and let him bring in a mostly high school staff. You hire a woman's hoops coach because she had a great binder. You then hired a recruiter to be your head basketball coach with the roster that probably had the most talent we have ever had. And all three turned out to be the worst hires in each sport's history--Trilli may have something to do with that in hoops, but that's the company we are talking about. And, then, as soon as we get one good season in football, he extends that coach so far out that he won't be bought out by the BOR because it costs too much.

And, amazingly, he isn't going anywhere--doesn't matter that the Super Pit sees 2000 people on a good night, that our football team plays some far-flung or little-known FCS teams in OOC every year, or that his winning percentage in the big three sports is .455 in 14+ years. He keeps getting extensions.

Can there be a serious campaign to change up the leadership at UNT athletics and demand higher standards? I think most sensible fans recognize RV's time is up. He served well and it's time to move on. Nothing will ever get done without serious external pressure. If anything, maybe that will make RV realize he needs to change things up or he'll likely be gone. Thoughts?

Someone above mentioned "snake oil salesman" with regard to RV. I would double that title when it comes to Mac. Same old tired excuses and same results despite incrdible hype that is filled with lies. Keep those e-mails coming to the Prez if you are to have any hope for change.
