We would finally sell out Apogee with Mike Leach.

GMG

I so wish we would have picked up Leach, it would have been great to have him here for four or five years. He knew how to recruit Texas and would have carried incredible buzz.  Though I don't think Leach would have tolerated RV's BS at all.

So we're listening to his HS coach for his evaluation??? Nuts!

Why not see what he had at QB before we bulked him up to play TE? -or wherever.

Thank goodness we listened  to McNulty's HS coach.

Dillman may have more talent at the QB position than any other QB on the roster, but oh well.

Yea, what would he know, he's only produced J.W. Walsh(who was Elite 11 with Damarcus Smith) the #4 ranked dual-thread qb in 2011, Jerrod Heard the #4 ranked dual-threat qb in 2014, and #2 ranked dual-threat qb for the class of 2017. D. Smith was the #11 ranked dual-threat qb in 2011 for comparison.

Yeah, I don't think I would be pumping up a UIL-ineligible Dillman as a QB when I have those two either.

Is this for certain? Rivals has him listed as a tight end.

Yes. Rivals changed it after the confirmed position switch. He committed to Nebraska in April 2014. To that point he had been seen as nothing but a national QB prospect. After that he completely shut off his recruitment until after Nebraska and their new staff parted ways with him. We were the only school to offer after that.

You could just as easily do that with the college coaches who offered him like Dabo Swinney, Butch Jones, Jimbo Fisher, Gus Mahlzahn, etc.

He would be a very Tim Tebow-esque QB seeing how big he is on the sideline.

Is there any truth to this partying and not listening stuff?

He bulked up considerably once he was told he would play tight end.

I don't know. That would be a lot of speculation for me having never met him. The reason I read, I believe, was that some very close family friends moved to the Guyer district so he decided to move in with them.

How big of a paycut from his currently 2.75 mil a season do you think he's going to take?

Half. I think for a guy like this UNT could and would pony up 1.3xx for him. Is it worth it? YES. Is he worth 400k more than Mccarney? Hell yes! Would he be willing to take a 50% pay cut? That's the question and I think at this point in Leach's career he would take this job for the said money. Half the money and realistically half the pressure. He would have an absolute free regin on how this program would be ran and rightfully so. Given our current situation and the dynamics of Texas high school football it would be one hell of a hire, IMO.

I respectfully disagree. He hasn't impressed me with anything he has done since he left Tech and he was kind of an a-hole even when he was at Tech. I was in the pro-Leach camp for awhile because I hated Craig James and his bs but after talking to Tech alumni, I've been enlightened to how he wasn't as well liked as us outsiders would like to believe.

See, I don't care if he was an ahole. That is so far from relevance to me. It's not his job to rub elbows. It's his job to graduate players, keep kids out of trouble and WIN.

Mike Leach would upgrade this roster first and foremost. Then, he would win and I think he would win with relative quickness in this league especially considering our geographic location. Texas kiids that have left Texas to go play at other G5 programs and garbage P5's would have a reason to stay in Texas and a pretty damn good one if you ask me.

And if he didn't? Where would we come up with multimillion dollar buyout money?

No need. Give him a 3 year contract worth 4 million dollars. Evaluate after the 3 years. No more than 2 year extensions every 2 years. He'll coach no more than 10 more years wherever he ends up. I would take 10 years of Mike Leach over 1 year of Dan Mccarney any time.

If a team swoops in to pick him up, that's fine. They pay us his contract buyout and agree to a 1 and 1 on his way out.

Sounds awfully Todd Dodge-like in this thread. Do we want to chance re-living that?

Who do you think we won that 2013 bowl game with?? Dodge recruits.  Now don't get me wrong he screwed up plenty of stuff but the dude was a hell of a recruiter who lost a crazy amount of starters when we went up to Clemson in what I believe was his final year.

Oh ya, and I told you mofos the "up tempo" offense was coach speak, but did you listen?

Nooooooooooo.

You should really have longer memories. This staff told you in the spring of 2014 that they were going to "open up" the offense. They didn't.

As long as DMac is head coach, we are going to run the F'n ball.

Time after time after time.

Take the second drive of the second half of Rice. The first drive was McNulty's interception. Second drive? Three straight running plays.

Three straight running plays surrounded by 2 long Rice drives. Game over.

So you say our offense is slow?

Why have we thrown the ball over 30 times the past 2 games?

Let me also add NT is throwing it 34.5 times a game. Last year it was 28.5. NT ranks 51st in pass attempts per game. Last year it was around 100.

Why not just run the first "however many" pages of the playbook that the one guy knows? The team doesn't have to learn a new playbook but if the new guy knows at least some of the plays in the playbook, why not run those plays?

EXACTLY!   It's not like we use the whole playbook anyways.

I never saw his offer list until now. I officially give up on Dan McCarney.

Wow, if we never give this guy a shot before he leaves/runs out of eligibility, I'll start thinking of Mac/Chico as to quarterbacks as to Jerry Jones was with coaches..."I can win with any coach".  And this whole thing of Vito being taken by the bodysnatchers is worrisome.

Eligibilty is maybe my main complaint with not giving him a shot. He has 5 years of eligibility. Not like he's a kid transferring in with a couple years and needing to retrain him as a QB. I have a hard time believing that with so much time to develop him he couldn't at least be Mcnulty/Greer level by his redshirt junior year. Probably earlier.

because we have lost both games by 2 touchdowns plus?

Even Mac throws the ball when behind in the 4th quarter.
