I haven't had the chance to view any Iowa film (the youtube ain't working here), but I've glanced at some stats. (for anyone who likes sports twitter, give @hawkeyegamefilm a follow).

Seems like their offense (although better than ours statistically) is still average. They love playing the short passing game and the screen game, but they're really good at it. CJ Beathard is accurate and has a strong arm for those short passes. They're also really good at selling the PA.

Their defense allows a high percentage of 3rd down conversions, and our offense is pretty good at converting third downs. The opposite holds true as well (Iowa offense vs UNT def).

I hope to see more aggressive press coverage, and keeping the play in front. I am le tired of this bend don't break. The linebackers will have a busy day again.

I expect Loving/MSmith to have another big day. Hope to see more of Dre Bradley.

Passing game will have to take this one, our rushing game will not go well.

Iowa will get a few huge runs, and I think North Texas will have a couple big pass plays.

We lose the time of possession game again, as Iowa runs all over us.

Although I don't expect to win, I don't think Iowa covers the spread.

Key to the game that will almost certainly not happen:

If/When we start losing by 20+ points. Play your younger players(See: Quarterbacks) to get experience for the future. While it's a pipe dream that Mac would do such a thing, maybe if we're getting completely pummeled he might consider it.

Make sure you give those keys to Andrew McNulty. He needs them to start the bus.

Whoever is the quarterback this Saturday will have [to have] quite a bit of yards. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get more than a combined 100 yards rushing.

We were getting close to seeing it this past weekend. Although it was just Greer. Maybe he'll get a series or two, then trade off and DaSmith gets a series or two.

Press Coverage, Do we do that? I believe they love the 15 yard cushion for the Corners

Would love to see D Bradley take one to the house At Kinnick

Turnovers are essential.  We've been giving plenty away without getting any back.  We can't have any of the dumb, moronic, asinine, idiotic, knuckleheaded turnovers we've been seeing from our guys and our D has to force some.  A +3 differential gives us a chance to win.  Another -3 game, and we won't cover the spread.

I am all for press coverage, especially for the players I follow, but you will have to be really deep at corner to pull it off.  Press coverage will make our secondary even more tired and worn out.  You will need backups you can trust.

Another issue is run support.  If you press and it's a run, it's much harder getting away from blocks.  I think this is the main reason we don't press.  Because we need everyone in run support.  Most top high school corners have played press coverage.

I think I only saw two plays in the 4th where our CBs were pressing. And we were 4 TDs down. Or maybe 3 TDs down. The CB on the near side was pretty excited tho, clapping and rubbing his hands together when he lined up in front of the receiver. Dug it.

The reason I say press is bc of Iowa's short passing game tendencies. I don't think we need to press every down, but more than once or twice in a game would be peachy. It may also result in less plays where the CB and S look at each other wondering who is supposed to pursue the receiver running the post route.

it could get real ugly for our secondary based on some of the scouting reports on here.  Short passing game and play action can kill us.  Our safeties will be peeking in the backfield all day and biting up.  That means our corners are guaranteed to play 10 yards off and take the role of playing safe while our safeties help out on the run.

If they run screens, this is where we will miss buyers.  Buyers is a sure tackler and he is hard to block.  Whit and davis, they have to work on getting off blocks.  It could be a long day if we don't change up something.

With fernandez out, do we finally see marshall?  Looked like preston came in when fernandez went down though...

Agree...but I just don't see it happening.

I agree with you but why 10-15 yards back. I know it all depends on what coverage they run

no safety help.  The corners are the safeties.

A lot of those plays in the rice game were designed for the safeties and LBs to come up and make.  They made a lot of tackles and it looks good for stats, but it should have been more pass break ups instead of tackles.
