A better turd is still a turd.

No longer sacrifice the football team??? 2 sacrifices this year and RV himself said he WANTS at least one sacrifice a year.

ITS NOT 1999!!! Good Gosh, man.

Aston was here one year. We have no idea if she would have been successful here. JJ was a good hire. So one good hire out of 9 or 10? With one other an incomplete? And you think that's "hit and miss?"

This AD's biggest flaw is his refusal to admit and fix mistakes, from scheduling to coaching hires to AD staff personnel to the ticket office, nothing is ever HIS fault yet everything is HIS responsibility.

RV has been here 15 years, don't you think he should have "learned" how to schedule by now? Are you willing to wait another 10 years to see if he gets it right?

This is the problem with some in our fan base. They think it is better than 1995, so everything is dandy.

STANDARDS

This is the whole root of all problems related to UNT. Meanwhile, as I type this, Dan Mccarney is saying in his show that we are a very good stable of quarterbacks.

I have already drawn my line in the sand.  I am going to support the long term plan of building a place that everyone can be proud of.  I didn't bail out of the stock market last month,  because I refuse to knee jerk.

This athletic director has sold me and my wife personally on a vision for this universities athletic department.   He has implemented this plan while working through 4 university presidents, and one interem.  This is a minor miracle.

Pulling support now would be shortsided and very damaging to this long term plan.  Rick villarreal will not be the a.d. forever, this i know. They come and go.  Presidents come and go, but I am confident that we have all, you included, have contributed to a lasting foundation to build on.

Sit back and let people do there jobs, facilities are built, results are now expected.

Has he provided an updated plan with new MGC goals?  I don't know if you can fault those numbers on the turnover at President.

My seats and unassigned parking space will go unused for the next four games. I already dropped basketball tickets two years ago. RV's time has passed. He's already outstayed his usefulness by at least three years. He should exit stage left and let the next guy come in to take us to the next level before he, RV, destroys the very foundation he helped build.

If he were so great, wouldn't some other school have come in to hire him away by now?

Fly and his friends can't or won't see this. One day they will wake up and realize all those shiny facilities are empty on game day.

Maybe then their opinion of their close personal friend's JOB PERFORMANCE will change.

Maybe.

Then again, maybe The 15 will be glad to have all the stupid riffraff and their silly winning demands removed from their shiny new facilities.

Less of a line at the bar for The 15 and RV.

More Jimmy John's to go around.

I thought I read in one of Fly's posts that things are now in place to start really paying attention to W/L records. Didn't he write that?

I don't know. I was blinded by the "RV is friends with all the big donors" post to really pay attention.

Yes.

But he's on record calling certain coaches to the winning column in previous years to just backtrack when losing happens the following season. So..

I appreciate what Fly does. I just wish that himself and the people in his donor class would bond together and demand better results. It would go a long way.

This is what you will see...they don't care enough to cause change with RV. This is proven by the fact that the Super Pit is less than half full from where it was in 2011 under JJ. Say its all about football then--that last game of the season this year will not have 1000 butts in seats, even if they announce that 5000+ is the official attendance.

These half dozen to dozen donors love having RV's cell phone number and getting preferred treatment, like its some big deal to brag about having close relationships with the AD at UNT, to flaunt that to their Aggie, Longhorn, and Red Raider buddies, even though if they weren't UNT alumni, they wouldn't even get to meet with the ADs at those places on any regular basis.

Match that with a BOR that is full of non-UNT grads, of which they traditionally have not helped athletics anywhere near what other universities' boards of regents do, as well as a chancellor that wants to bolster UNT-Dallas, you get what we have. I know this much, even if Neal Smatresk cares enough about winning in revenue sports that he wants to make changes in the athletic department, he's still got a fierce battle ahead of him with the two groups above. To be honest, even with all my hope resting on the possibility that Smatreesk wants to win, at best those odds seem no better than 50/50 at this point--and that might be optimistic.

It will be such a sad day to walk away from this place if it comes to that. Its why I am trying to learn more about the great music department we have, to find a way to feel connected still to my alma mater. But I admit its hard--I don't know much about music, nor has it ever been high on my list. But it is what we are great at--I want to be associated with that. It gets reinforced by my buddies from A&M, UT, OU, and Tech that always tell me that if they had to play us in a marching band concert, they would get crushed. Before, I always looked at this as a negative, but now, I want it to be a positive--because it is greatness and that needs to be celebrated. It may be where my support goes to if it comes down to Benford keeping his job after this next season ends without a berth in the NCAAs or NIT, most likely because RV gets him an extension.

So....what is this long term vision you speak of? Because all I see is a long term of losing.

The loser mentality of this program and those who blindly support it are maddening. Raise the bar people. The one outlier, fluke season, while fun, is extremely overrated.

Facilities are great. RV built them all by himself did he? They are merely asthetic at this point as they have yet to yield results. We are consistently beaten, out-scheduled and out-recruited by schools with less.

Also, the athletics office has consistently failed to increase sth and mgc numbers mainly due to their own ineptitude and laziness. Not to mention results on the field.

There are a lot of problems and they won't be fixed overnight, but we aren't seeing enough consistent overall improvement, and don't see any on the horizon.

If Texas can see things aren't going in the right direction in 22 months, 14 years should be long enough for those of us at little ole North Texas.
