You didn't hear man?! The new thing to do in recruiting now is wait till after the season. Kids don't want early offers. Kids don't want to be shown love all the way through the recruiting process. Kids don't want to make commitments before or during their. UNT is way ahead of the curve on this new trend. Mac thinks it's really going to pay some huge dividends.

You would think that maybe we would be putting real effort into this front with our current state of football. Apparently not. We are actually doing the exact opposite. It's questionable to say the least.

Only position I'm comfortable with is TE. Looks like we have to look heavily within the Juco ranks for QB, DB, & O Line.

Really? All we've really seen so far are two seniors at tight end, and the two freshman tight ends didn't even make the travel squad.

Why QB???

We will just wait for the next Red Headed Stranger to walk on and be our saving grace. That and we dont trust JUCO QB's here. Our playbook is to big and complex to understand

145th in the country in recruiting rankings on 247, and staring an ugly season dead in the face. Going to be hard to get kids excited about coming here. Even if we are patient.

all I can do is laugh about how bad our recruiting is. I'm mean seriously, are we even trying???

I think I've said it before, but the recruiting this summer (or lack thereof) reminded me of a staff that thought they were on their way out. When you see staffs recruit very little until the season ends and they realize they will get another year. Except Mccarney was not on the hot seat at all coming into the year. Potential good that could come from this is a new staff would have an entire class worth of spots, even if they would only have a short time to fill them.

This class and 2017 class is going to be the future of this team. It will probably be the sophomores and juniors (the bloodline of a team) when our next coach takes over. In other words, these recruiting classes are setting us back ANOTHER 2 years AFTER we get a new coach. It truly is a hard pill to swallow how bad of shape this program is in.

Fly, you paying attention?

From your experience @BillySee58, will there be enough Darrien McNairs to go around to fill a class so late in the cycle?

That's why I don't like this strategy. I love the idea of saving maybe 2-4 spots for guys like McNair, Dillman, Chumley. Banking on filling an entire class with them is silly, IMO.

To me it's our staff looking for a shortcut around winning recruiting battles the conventional way. College football is too competitive to take shortcuts. I just really have a hard time seeing a way this works out in the end.

Can any of the QBs be moved to other positions? Then go after 3-4 QBs this class.  Who we got after Mac. jr is gone?

there could be a talk with one or two after the season, telling them that it isn't working out and the staff will work to find them a spot to transfer at a lower classification where they could actually find the field and have a shot at starting...

What I find baffling is that Texas puts out more D1 talent than any state and we struggle to get a decent class. I feel that if this staff put out any kind of effort we would be able to put together damn good team.

Just found the numbers, Texas averages 377 D1 recruits a year since '07 and this last Feb Texas produced 405

I wish we had like 8 Kevin Patricks out hitting the recruiting road
