I thought we used to have the forum ground rules posted somewhere, but I'm having problems finding it.  Might be worth posting a link in this thread. I think it included some things regarding foul language, personal attacks, religion, politics, etc.   Also specified some stuff about going overboard on negativity toward players beyond sticking to the facts.  I don't remember how it was worded.

Swooping in to hush the criticism and the very few vocal fans that North Texas does have is great for business. I mean, look at our history. If we're a stock, we're booming.

Congratulations.  Please tell me to where I should mail the gold star.

This post hurt my feelings. I'm going to need you to be less negative. I am an alum afterall.

I'm refusing to believe that.  To save the deprecation on the value of my own degree if nothing else.

You are right, we shouldn't snipe at each other.  I am just telling you that if you want to be effective, there is a way to be effective and a way to just blow off steam and do nothing constructive.

Psh, please. If anything I give value to your precious little degree. Believe that because it's very true.

However, that was another hurtful comment.  Is an account suspension going to have to come your way for you to learn your lesson as a grown adult? Shame, shame, shame.

Let me repost:

Look, posts like:

Are WAY out of line.  And I think my post explains why it was locked:

More importantly Harry, the guy who pays for this board and was faxing out Mean Green info before a lot of posters were born, agrees with me.  Harry wants to run a board that isn't a free for all pile on where people compete to write "funny" metaphors that dog our fellow alumni.   As I posted out, it's also misplaced anger.

Don't like the program that has been built? Call or write the AD.  Don't like the AD?  Smatresk is his boss.

Now, are you interested in puffing up on a message board, or do you want to do something constructive?  Email RV or Smatresk.

I have never understood the need to pile on any player.  It is not like they don't want to play well and in most cases have put in lots of work and effort to do that.  Everyone knows that McNulty had a bad game and most know that he has really worked hard and long to be a better player.

Does he have the talent to win games?  Maybe not, but he still may be NT's best chance to win.

The blame all goes ultimately to McCarney who should have developed several capable QB's by now.  I don't buy for a minute that good QB's won't come to NT.  Ramsey, Davis, Maher, Hall and many others have played well at NT despite being lightly recruited.  Mac and crew recruit a savior QB every year, who turns out to be anything but.   They either can't identify QB's or can't develop them.

I am actually beginning to think that Mac and crew destroy QB's more than develop them.  They scare all spontaneity out of them and have them so intent on not making errors that they play timid and make more mistakes.

I plan on it.

Good, here is a good place to start.

This.

Part of playing is hearing the critics. Just like you take the praise. I take it most of y'all have never been in film room with college coaches. These kids take ass chewing daily. Nothing said here is going to break their hearts. When you play like crap, you know it.

If the players don't like the complaints, then they need to do something about it. Accountability, or lack thereof, is exactly why this program is in the dumpster year in and year out.

If they want respect. Win. If they don't want to be embarrassed. Win. If the AD and Head coach want donors. Win.

They need to knock off the twitter nonsense too. I'm really sorry these kids grew up in the generation where everyone gets a trophy but in the real world people don't praise failure. Im not attacking the character of anyone in the athletic department or players. They are good folks. However, this consistent losing and lack of accountability is enough. Every fan and alumni deserves better.

Criticism comes with the territory, no doubt. But calling a player a steaming pile of dog crap or some other form of personal attack is a bit much, don't you think? Granted, it hasn't ever gotten that bad here, but we all are familiar with message boards and know how things can get out of hand quickly.
