I feel like if we maybe could find Ray...things might turn around for us

Thank you that made smile for the first time since the 3rd qtr

"Fire Rick V" banner flying over Apogee next weekend?

As in bad taste as that would be I would still split in for such a banner.

After  this performance, 0-12 is a very real possibility. I had the Mean Green at 2-10 as my preseason prediction. mcNulty is hard worker and a leader but he's not a Division I starting quarterback. Sadly, the ineptitude of McCarney to develop a quarterback (remember when we all thought Brock Berglund would be the answer) has caught up to the program.

If this team goes 0-12, I don't think McCarney will be fired, rather I think we will retire. At his age, I just don't see him sticking around for another major rebuilding project.

speaking of I saw Nathan Tune at the game.

is the tune kid throwing for Hebron related? He tore up one of the Plano schools last Friday night.

it is always right, y'all better listen to it

So you are saying I better get my goodbyes in to RV this weekend because the hammer is about to fall?

I seriously doubt RV is happy about the situation at quarterback or in general.  I doubt Smatresk is either.  It's just not their place to publicly comment on these things.   Anyone who cares about this university cannot be pleased about the way things played out Saturday.

RV is going to support his coach and evaluate things as the season plays out.   Mac is doubling down on McNulty and we shall see how that decision plays out.  This is how things are done.  I'm honestly starting to think McNulty is our best option which raises a bigger issue in the area of quarterback evaluations.  Bogie at UTSA will be reminding us of this for years to come.

that we are going to struggle to win 2 games this year.

No that RV is living on borrowed time at UNT, he will soon be free to coach or assist at Southern Miss again. Good luck to him!

I just don't think so.  Bogenshutz is no Cato/Sokol... heck, he won't even be as good as Soza.  Don't worry about him Harry.   We need to worry about our own first.

The problem, as I see it, is that RV giving McCarney the extended contract until 2018 allows us to have a head coach who thinks Andrew McNulty is the best QB available without any repercussions. Smatresk may not be happy, either, but he's not the one who decides if anything changes--the BOR does.

Let's now make the fairly easy assumption that we win 2 games, max, this year in football, followed by a typical Benford year in hoops. To fix this all completely, as in right away, the university's leadership will have to fork over $2 million for McCarney, $750k for RV, and $325k for Benford, and then turn around and hire a new AD, HFC, and HBC, which will probably cost us at least something similar in salary for the next group. My math tells me that we are looking at $6 million to get this going. And my experience tells me that we are gonna spend $325k in the spring of 2016 to make a change at the helm of the mens hoops team + whatever salary we pay for the next coach and $675K at the end of 2017 to get a new head coach in football + whatever we pay the new coach, both of whom will be replaced by hires of our #UNTADforlife, who ain't getting fired here. The BOR will see Smatresk go before they let RV go, just as they did Norval Pohl, Gretchen Bataille, and Lane Rawlins.

I am genuinely curious about something.    Since state law says we can't use tuition or non athletic fee money to support athletics, how do you think the BOR is supposed to come up with the money?

Stop ALL renovations that are in the works for the Pit, Lovelace, etc. Pour that money into firings and hirings.

Most of that money is either already signed under contact.  We stop that and contractors sue.

Or it's been pledged to a certain project by a donor.  If we try and change that the donor might pull the pledge.

If it came from the state, like all the Super Pit money, it been assigned to a project.  We try and change where that money goes and the state will rightfully ream us.

Now there probably is a few hundred thousands dollars we could redirect, but that isn't enough to buy out any of the contracts.
