Thanks Greg! Good stuff!

I really liked the player ratings. Man do I miss that game. Did our players deserve such high ratings? I hope so. Would EA have given us near such high ratings? Of course not. In the last installment of the game Zach Orr was our highest rated player, at 82. Ryan Boutwell was our only other player in the 80s, at 80 even. Either way I wish I could do updated rosters with these ratings. Bring it back EA!

EA Sports also didn't do their homework as much on the smaller schools. Are some of these guys rated too high? Probably. I mean with a guy like J. Wilson you are rating him a lot on potential. A lot of these guys are more potential than production. Once I see them this week and really after the first 3 weeks the rankings should be more accurate.

Yes bring back NCAA!

Exactly. I think they had Brelan Chancellor around a 74 going into his senior year, and a speed rating at least a couple notches below 90, if I recall correctly. And that was after he had already dusted LSU's secondary.  Such is life as a fan of a G5 school.

When I look at North Texas vs. SMU and think about who has the overall  advantage I wonder about NTs bye week. In SMUs case is it easier to make adjustments after a few series of seeing what NT is going to do? Or is it easier for NT easier to work out the the kinks of an opening game knowing what your opponent is going to do?

Who can execute at a higher level? We saw Baylor and SMU miss lots of tackles last week. I guarantee you that NT ran a tougher more physical camp then those 2. I hope that we don't see a missed tackle epidemic on Saturday.

Always nice to see the Breakdown!

Apparently Malone worships at the alter of man-to-man coverage. Did he stick with it in the second half last week? If so, I would think he would stay with it this week against allegedly less talented receivers that likely can't stretch the field like BU receivers did last week.

He started going with a man under 2 deep safety look so Baylor couldn't get over the top. I expect to see a mix of man coverage on early downs and zone on longer down and distance situations.

It it will be really interesting to see what Cosh does. Will he be more quarters coverage or man?

My best guess is bend don't break aka slow death by a million small but ultimately deadly cuts...

That has been Mac's MO since he got here and of course Skladany did it well at times...

What will be interesting to me is the blitzes and how soon they are incorporated.  Skladany seemed to hold off on those at least initially and try to get a feel for how the game was going.

With a dangerous dual purpose threat like Davis - blitzing can be extremely dangerous.  Then again, you want to get him rattled early on if you can.  Extremely interesting chess match tomorrow.

Great write-up by the way.  I read every word.  Going to be a fun game to watch!

Thank you Sir. It is a lot of words to read.

Many people or a few may be wondering what happened to a lot of the charts and formations. Well the charts or the information that was on the charts will be moved to a posting called "Inside the Numbers". I will be doing one of those each week. Our goal is to get it on a more fan friendly spread sheet like the player ratings. Formations on the other hand became quite time consuming. If this was my full time job I would break things down in a way that many sites make people pay for that kind of info.

Unfortunately I've become a little time strapped with work and the big news that my wife and I are expecting a first child. Cant wait to welcome my new little football/basketball scout into the world. Yes I will do my best to make sure he is developed into a 5 star QB that goes to NT and changes everything. Hopefully by then we wont have any trouble landing the big name recruits.

on the player rating.  Marcus Smith our only hope to break the NFL drought is a 77.

Got to see him produce more, be more consistent with catching, and improve in blocking. I could easily see his rating go up to around 84 by the end of the year.

Did I see that right where smu gained no yardage on 3rd down when throwing? If so, does that mean the defense had it planned out and our boys should be able to do the same???

Or am I drinking too much and I read it wrong...

No Baylor didn't have any passing yards on 3rd down. Basically they never needed to throw on 3rd down
