The weed stuff isn't why he left SMU. I think it was the reason he went there that eventually caused him to leave. i remember Rice on periscope saying that they lied to him to get him to flip from UNT. If I had to guess, I would say that lie had something to do with them "recruiting" his brother.

You're right. He's a good player, and insanely athletic for a lineman ... and possibly a little insane (in a good way), too. Good guy to have on your offensive line, or in a dark alley. 

Don't understand the venom he feels for Briggs, though. Briggs, I'm told, is a really good guy (and a pretty good player). Maybe there was stuff that went on in practice when he was at SMU, but even then, linemen usually have each other's back at all costs, don't they? I could almost understand if he picked out someone on the SMU defense and said he wanted to get THAT guy, but another OL?

Rice's rep when he was at SMU was that he was a good player but just wired a little differently than the rest of the human race. Doesn't seem to be anything to conflict that reputation.

Smoked weed, missed class, got dismissed.

college football would barely exist if players were dismissued for smoking and missing class.  College players get multiple chances  with testing.  I doubt SMU is any different.

So June jones, who barely cared about the team, all of a sudden cared in this situation?and got rid of a person on the 2 deep...

That doesn't quite add up.

Just think, it was bad enough that lazy ole June actually did something about it.

How did you get re-admitted?  I assume there is some sort of standard "I Dun Goofed and Now Daddy is Paying for a Library" form at SMU.

I did really well in "private tutoring" with my professors.

I had heard rumors about that.  You can always get ride of the taste with mouthwash... or Jack Daniels.

      U.S. House Committee Examining Student Athletic Fees

      I think it's a good thing to give students the opportunity to choose what they pay for. Want to use the exercise facilities? Pay as you go. Want to go to a game? Pay as you go. Same with arts and music. Make things more transparent and give parents and students the freedom to choose. Lower costs for the college degree should be the #1 priority for all public schools. It would then be up to the AD, the Dean of College of Music, and others to work on getting interest and attendance. I have a kid at a college out of state and it costs $30k for his cost of attendance, even after a scholarship that waives a lot of out of state costs. The list of fees he pays is ridiculous, as he never attends a concert, an exhibit, or a play. He does attend games--which he pays an extra fee to get an all-sports pass. People wonder why it takes forever to pay for a college education when they have to borrow to pay for it. These extra fees are a big part of that, which the student and their family has no say in at all. You can say that you can go somewhere else that doesn't have athletics fees like we do, but the fact remains that the fees exist for many other colleges within the university that are unnecessary.

      Mean Green Fall At UAB, 64-61

      The Mean Green (16-6, 7-3) were led in scoring by senior Jasper Floyd who finished with 15 points, his most since the season opener. Brenen Lorient added 12 points off the bench and big man Moulaye Sissoko recorded his third career double-double as he finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds. UNT had an opportunity to tie it on the final possession of the game but the Blazers defended it well and the Mean Green were unable to get a shot off. “I loved our fight, of course disappointed in the outcome, I thought the game was pretty even across the board but ultimately it’s hard to not look at the box score and see the 15 turnovers,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “But a ton of respect for UAB and coach Kennedy.” Team stats across the board were pretty even, however, UAB (15-8, 8-2) was strong at forcing turnovers Monday night. They forced 15 North Texas turnovers to the Blazers 11. UAB scored 17 points off those turnovers. Next up for UNT is a four-day break before hosting Tulane Saturday at the Super Pit.
