May I introduce you to he who purchases more North Texas football season tickets than any human on the planet: Denton native, NT alumnus, class of 2004, owner/creator of arguably the best social venues in town, East Side and Oak Street Drafthouse: Mr. John Williams.

It was a good night for North Texas this evening as Audacity and East Side teamed with North Texas Athletics (damn near the entire department was on hand) to sell $4.00 brews in a co-branded North Texas/Audacity pint glass that he who purchased was free to keep. North Texas had the table set up with Mean Green Club information, schedule posters, etc, Lots of green shirts on hand.

I want to be young again. Denton has never been this good, and continues to get better.

North Texas had record enrollment this semester, 3% above last year. Freshman, by the way, are 7% above last year (congrats @Peacock, et al.).

This is what college towns do. Your school is in a real college town. Support East Side. Support Audacity. Support North Texas Athletics. 

 

GMG...and damnit, BEAT $MU.

I love me some john Williams, but I'd like people to also at least recognize my buddy Patrick as well. He is the managing partner of Essc, and he is just as much a supporter of Unt athletics as john is. He's been around Denton since 2000 at least. He's almost always there. Make sure to give him some love as well.

Patrick is amazing. I brought in one of my battle flags to drape over a table one day to accompany an away game viewing. He and John approached me immediately to purchase it off me and then hung it in the front window next to the bar. I grin whenever I see it.

ya...i had to grab a few glasses last night...it was a great event and packed with folks in green...but for some reason, i was in yellow...oh well...fabulously attended, great pecan lager, great company...

Yeah, I didn't have time to change before coming so I wasn't in green either. 

The pecan lager is pretty awesome, I recommend folks try it soon. Unless I'm mistaken, it's a part of their Little D series and as such won't last too long.

Didn't mean to diss the good man Patrick. Haven't met him, I don't think. 

I am enjoying getting to know Denton again, appreciate the relatively high number of independent businesses there and focused on propping all of the North Texas-supporting businesses!

This is such a brilliant business move.   For the life of me I don't understand why more Denton businesses haven't gone full Mean Green support crazy.  This town has a ton of pent up demand for it in my opinion.

My night was already full, but I made some room to get to Eastside and aquire a couple of pints...

      I understand that his decisions to go for it on 4th down so much or not to kick FGs or play the field position game are bad decisions. Just playing Devil's advocate. Could it be that those decisions stem from a lack of confidence in the defense? It feels like he believes he has to score TDs on every possession to win because the defense will not stop anyone. So, that takes me back to he should have never kept Caponi after year one.

      I went to the game, again we started slow and accelerated in the second quarter outscoring ACU 27-12. We let them back in it and the lead got down to three points twice. But we went on a game-sealing 11-0 run to take a 66-52 lead as Lampkin took over. One of ACU's starting bigs went out late with an apparent back injury. She's from Bixby, Oklahoma, which is where I've gotten my only speeding ticket, so maybe she deserved it. As for the arena, it shares the same name as SMU's (Moody Coliseum) and looks like a carbon copy of TCU's (albeit half the size). Recently renovated and very nice. The ACU men hosted TXST shortly after. Which we could get some better men's/women's doubleheaders and on the weekend to help boost the ladies' attendance.
