Absolutely nothing wrong with that!

It seems like we're saying the same thing, but just saying it differently. Yes, without question, SMU cares about this (and every) game, and malonish is right that if UNT wins, SMU fans will be irate. But would SMU prefer a win over UNT to a massive upset over TCU or Baylor? Of course not. Over a conference win? Of course not. That leaves James Madison, and UNT would be above them because of proximity, recruiting, etc. So yes — SMU wants to win. All I'm saying is that this game is far from a Super Bowl-type game to SMU. Of course they would hate to lose, just like UNT fans would hate to lose to SMU.

That said, let's hope the series continues for years to come.

I've seen like 5 threads from you on how SMU fans think of UNT. We get it brah... they step over us and are already lookin at TCU. That's fine with me, but I see a lot of hypocritical stuff going on on ponyfans. One of the fans actually took the time to go through our board and talk about how it was a mess..... And then I see some fans already talking about becoming a member of the Big 12.

Anyways... It doesn't matter what they think. If they really didn't care for us, they wouldn't be giving us the attention we've been getting, or they wouldn't need SMU experts on GMG.com posting about how their fans think.

The difference is we actually win against the team that thinks they're better than us. TCU is levels above SMU. It's plain and simple....you don't compete against them. It doesn't matter how much money you have.

Clever as that is, we all know money has nothing to do with it (and for the record, TCU has plenty). When SMU won in Fort Worth in 2011, SMU fans went crazy and talked trash (sound familiar?) and TCU fans acted like the end of the world was at hand. SMU celebrated that win, and deservedly so, and the next week, TCU went about its business. After last year's disaster, SMU's lead against TCU is 28-5-1 in the all-time series, but the fact is UNT won, and won big, last season. UNT fans enjoyed last year's win, and deserved to. But the parallel remains valid.

Hope it's a good game.

why don't we stick with games that were played since we actually moved back to the D1 level?

What at do games played during the Pony Excess era prove?

Dude, TCU leads the all-time series against SMU 47-40-1.

I'm assuming you meant to say "SMU's lead against UNT is 28-5-1," which would be accurate.

But as @greenit said, let's count games where both teams were actually both playing FBS games.

I'm certain that this board will be moving on to the Rice game faster than Ponyfans will be moving on to the TCU game.

Does that mean the UNT VS Rice rivalry is just as strong as SMU VS TCU?
