I broke down the depth chart by which signing class the players were a part of. Coach Mccarney's first class was 2011, and they are now redshirt seniors, meaning all five of his classes make up the two-deep. I also included grayshirts with the class they committed in, not the class they technically signed with since that's when they were recruited.

Signing class of 2011 (redshirt seniors):

Starters: 4

Total in two-deep: 7 (4 starters, 3 backups) - 14.6% of two-deep

2012 (redshirt juniors and true seniors):
Starters: 4
Total in two-deep: 7 (4 starters, 3 backups) - 14.6% of two-deep

2013 (redshirt sophomores, true juniors, and one transfer still on roster)
High school signee starters: 4 (2 co-starters)
High school signee backups: 2
Transfer signees in two-deep: 1 (Chris Loving)
Total in two-deep: 7 (2 starters, 2 co-starters, 3 backups) - 14.6% of two-deep

2014 (redshirt freshman, true sophomores, and four transfers still on roster)
High school signee starters: 5
High school signee backups: 2
Transfer signees in two-deep: 3
Total in two-deep: 10 (5 starters, 5 backups) - 20.8% of two-deep

2015 (true freshman and 6 transfers still on roster)
High school signee starters: 0
High school signees in two-deep: 4
Transfer signee starters: 2 (1 co-starter)
Transfer signee backups: 2
Total in two-deep: 8 (1 starter, 1 co-starter, 6 backups) - 16.7% of two-deep

Former walkons
Starters: 5
Total in two-deep: 9 (5 starters, 4 backups) - 18.8% of two-deep

Solid work by a fine asset to the gomeangreen.com community.

Walk-ons are a great story but the number of walk-on starters is way too high. 2014 and 2015 either look strong bc they were good classes or look strong bc the other classes were so weak.

I mean...do we still go out and recruit anymore or just send someone to stand out front of I-35 in a Statue of Liberty outfit holding up a sign?

Didn't you get the memo? North Texas is a difficult place to recruit to. But Hark, good news!!!!! This is only the beginning or something like that.

If it was good enough for Necessary Roughness, it's good enough for The Mean Green.  Hell, the building by the 35 even looks like an armadillo. I'd been driving by UNT for several years before enrolling, and I had zero idea what that thing was.  I just called it the Denton armadillo building.

At this point, that tactic might have a better chance of getting a Texas HS QB here than anything else we are doing...
